Blocked shot!! Our ball.  Timeout to set up perhaps the winning shot.  30 seconds remaining.

Not sure who is going to win this game but seems like the card saved all their toughness for the last few minutes.  brobdingnagian 3 by Williams and brobdingnagian layup by Lexie.

And Colorado with the dagger.

No way.  We're going to overtime.

Colorado hits an off balance 3 with 1.6 seconds left.  Prechtel scores a 2 with .2 seconds left to send this game to overtime!

Unreal finish to regulation. I also didn't realize that you can advance the ball on a timeout in WBB.

Great inbound play with 1.6 seconds left to get Ashten the layup!

On the preceding Colorado possession, I thought we used our fouls a little too quickly, especially the last one.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado Friday 7pm - BostonCard - 01-24-2020

The key to that play was the inbound by Lexie.  Faked the pass to Lacie and let Prechtel seal on the inside.

The problem is that Lacie and Lexie gave 2 fouls each to kill clock at the end of regulation.  Lexie has 4 fouls and Lacie has 3.

UCLA-Washington has also gone to overtime in LA. Big game there, with the three way tie at the top
in the Pac.

It's the other way around. Not quite as bad.

Prechtel got her fourth as well.  On the other side, Sherrod and Knight both have four fouls for Colorado.

3 point lead with 44 seconds left.  Lexie with a career high 29 points.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado Friday 7pm - d4cohn - 01-24-2020

Our defense has just been fantastic the last couple of possessions.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado Friday 7pm - martyup - 01-24-2020

Turnover.  Stanford's ball with a 3 point lead and 33 seconds left.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado Friday 7pm - BostonCard - 01-24-2020

The last couple Colorado possessions, Williams' defense has been (to quote Shaw, "phenomenal").  Three point lead with 35 seconds.  We have possession.

BC

Now we just have to make our free throws.

What an incredible comeback. Big win to hold serve at home.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado Friday 7pm - BostonCard - 01-24-2020

Well, that was a gutty game.  I thought we were cooked several times.  ESPN actually has Colorado's win probability at 100% at one point.  We end the game on a 10-0 run.

Lexie hits 2 FTs.  5 point lead.  CO misses.  Prechtel rebounds and gets fouled.  Hits 1 of 2. 6 point lead.  CO misses.  Stanford rebound.  Kiana dribbles down to 7.5 seconds and gets fouled.  Hits both FTs for an 8 point lead.  Prechtel blocks the final CO shot and WE WIN!!  What a game.

Holy cow, what a game!!! Wish I'd been able to watch in Maples, but even on tv, my heart was in my throat for the last 15 min of play. What started out as an uninspiring defensive slog turned into a genuinely inspiring show of grit and perseverance. Obviously credit to Lexie and Lacie for their defensive chops and playmaking prowess, great to see Williams finish strong after a quiet performance for much of the game, but I can't help cheering loudest for Ashten Prechtel.

For a while Tara seemed to have had her on the shortest leash of any of the freshman; this game showed what she can do when given room to shine. In a game that was won as much by heart as by skill, it was clear how badly she wanted it. She made critical shots and fought for rebounds and jump balls the way you wish every player would. I hope this game gives our injury-plagued team the confidence to know that they can hang tough and fight on even when the much-vaunted depth goes away, and I certainly hope to see Prechtel back in the starting lineup. Can't wait to see what she'll do next!

The Hulls rightfully get credit for their superb defense, but when Tara put Kiana on Sherrod for the last few minutes of OT, Kiana was amazing. She was all over Sherrod, who couldn’t even get the ball — and Colorado was lost having to rely on someone else to initiate the offense. So...why didn’t we have Kiana on Sherrod during regulation? Lacie was ineffective at best guarding Sherrod on all those pick and rolls and Sherrod just blew by all our posts when we switched. Similarly, the zone was brilliant in the second quarter and the beginning of the third quarter. Why not use it in OT or on Q4 just to mix things up and keep Colorado guessing? Finally, kudos to Jenna for what I think was her most productive game yet.

I turned off the game tracker after the “dagger” 3, thinking what a shame for them to come back from 7 down only to lose at the end. When I saw the final score, I kicked myself for giving up on the team and scoured the internet for video highlights.

Someone who was down at the Colorado end of the floor posted a video of this play on YouTube. Kiana’s screen in the key was just enough to pick Ashten’s defender to open up the passing lane for the inbounds. What a play!

In the presser, Tara praised Jenna’s hustle and grit. Her 5 assists and 0 turnovers jump off the box score. Sounded like Tara will be looking for ways to get her and Ashten more PT.

If Haley, DiJonai and/or Maya make it back later this season, the team will be like a Swiss Army knife with so many useful parts!
