P.S.  Apologies to Hernandez and Lotty, who are a close second, but didn't have the same level of athleticism and defensive ability.

I love Bryce and Daejon for the reasons you cite; however, (a) I think you undersell both Lotty's and Hernandez's defensive abilities (go rewatch The Shot by Nick), and (b) other duos were perhaps a better combo of O and D, as others have noted.

P.S.  Who was Dion Cross's backcourt mate (always viewed him as an underappreciated guard from back in the day).

Brevin was definitely not under appreciated.

Right, but Dion was.  That's my #1 backcourt.

Sorry, I didn't catch the sarcasm.  It's an underappreciated skill.

Speaking of which, does anyone know of any Brevin Knight Stanford highlights available anywhere on the web?

I couldn't find any to show my son just now.

I can’t help you there but do recommend Brevin’s interview on the TreeCast with Troy Clardy last year. Great exchange!

Belatedly noticed this write-up which I enjoyed from channeltreesports. Included some of the observations made on this board so it’s not really news.

Quote:Stanford (7-3, 3-1 Pac-12) used a historic performance from Ziaire Williams to take down Washington (1-8, 0-4), 91-75.
Ziaire’s tenth assist came in the final minutes, putting the finishing touches on a triple double. He finished the game with 12 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds, as well as 2 blocks and 2 steals. It was just the second triple-double in school history, after Brook Lopez got one with points, rebounds and blocks in 2007.
“I joked earlier to the team that it was almost the first quadruple double in Stanford history with the turnovers,” coach Jerod Haase said. Williams racked up 7 turnovers, which kept him from resting on the laurels of his performance.

In Ziaire's defense, some of his passes are bullets, and I think our guys are just not expecting the ball to be moving at that speed.  Basketball needs a "dropped passes" statistic like the NFL so the turnovers can be assigned to the receiving player sometimes.

The flip side is the underappreciated Terry Taylor.  With a pretty good 2.....

RE: MBB: Stanford 91 UW 75 in Santa Cruz Thurdsay 1/7 - BostonCard - 01-09-2021

Yeah, the Lichti/Taylor backcourt was pretty good.  But Taylor was overshadowed by playing with Lichti, Howard Wright, Eric Raveno, and (in 1989) Adam Keefe.

But I do think the best backcourt was the 1997 three guard combo of Brevin Knight, Art Lee and Kris Weems (the front court of Tim Young, Peter Sauer, and Mark Madsen wasn't chopped liver either).

Ron was one heck of a shooter, remember watching him light up the Trojans for 40 way before the 3 pt shot.
