Nice to see a game where we didn't let up and give them hope. Prechtel and Jump went 100% (five for five) from 3. KW keeps throwing them up, but only hit 2-9 from 3. Overall we shot 52.5/47.4. Very nice team shooting. Lock down defense held the Cougs to 33.3/29.4.
Williams 16
Jones 16 (5 assists, 6 rebounds)
Wilson 3
Brink 6 (5 blocks, 5 rebounds)
Lexie 6 (5 assists)
Lacie 5
Belibi 8
Prechtel 11
Jump 6

Depth helped so much today. Great game by Haley, along with Belibi, Lacey, and Prechtel shooting it well off the bench. Way to take care of business Card!

We win 77-49, which is a great showing these last 2 games, especially after our consecutive losses and WSU playing very well, I know there was a real fear that the Cougars could earn their first ever win against us.
However, in both contests, we were able to assert dominance and even though silly unforced errors/turnovers still are an issue, we never let WSU get back in the game late and work the magic they showed during the season.
Our defensive efforts against the Leger-Walker sisters deserve a special shoutout. The two sisters average a combined 31.4 ppg on around 37% shooting. In these two games, they combined for 22 points on 8/33 shooting (24%). Today, they had 7 points on 2/16 shooting.
Of course, our scout defense sometimes leaves a player open and it was Murekatete who took advantage, she had 17 points on 8/11 shooting, but it was nowhere near enough to compensate for our defensive successes elsewhere.
Offensively, we had 3 players in double figures, led by Haley and Kiana with 16 each. Haley was unsurprisingly more efficient (7/11) than Kiana (6/16). Prechtel was our 3rd double digit scorer with 11 on 4/5 shooting; her shooting isn't the primary issue but as others pointed out, her rebounding and defensive efforts are the concern.
Both Lexie and Cameron were relatively quiet with 6 points each but Brink had another 5 blocks and 5 rebounds.
We were able to sub in late and get the bench some playing time.
Hopefully, the UW game on Sunday will also be another straightforward affair and we can head back to the Farm for our first game at Maples in a long time.

Perspective:
Cougs lost to Oregon by 4 and 8 and to UCLA by 2,
and beat Arizona by 2.
And lost to us by 22 and 28.

I certainly agree with this observation. We will see how we do on the second round of some games--the losses to Colorado and UCLA were not good, certainly, but when we play at our best I think we are the best team in the country. When we play at our worst Colorado can beat us. When we have an average game we can beat most of the other conference teams but certainly not all.
I wish I could have seen the game. At least if it has been on Pac 12 it would be replayed at some point--but not even that. I set up a screen recorder to record the game off my PC but the file became too long and the recorder crashed. So nothing. Sigh.
On the other hand, it looks like a good effort and certainly a good result. We have very experienced guards and they are showing how to play defense. Our posts are not so experienced and they have a ways to go.
The Brink/Belibi/Prechtel rotation is curious. I really thought that Tara would have two of them on the floor at the same time a lot this season. But it sure does seem as if Belibi is playing with less confidence than she did earlier on. Nice to see Prechtel hit some shots.

Yeah, I missed the game as well. Took my mother (86 years old) for her first COVID vaccine so can't feel bad about missing for that. If anyone finds an archived stream of the game, please post it.

And the streak continues. WSU has never beaten Stanford in WBB.
Two big road wins for Stanford against a better WSU team than we have seen in recent memory. Wasn’t always pretty, but we leave with the W’s.

Anna now has faced the three top scorers in the Pac 12:
C Legler-Walker, Aari McDonald, and Charisma Osborne,
Together, they average almost 19 points per game.
Against Anna, they've averaged 10.2 points on 17-69 (.246) shooting.
Once more: Anna for Pac 12 defensive POY.

RE: the Brink, Belibi, Prechtel rotation...I think Tara is playing it situationally. Brink starts and comes out for 1) Fatigue or 2) "Teaching moments" :> But without the silly mistakes, she'll play as long as her stamina allows. She's just too valuable. Then the question becomes who to sub in for her. I think most of the time it will be Belibi. I really don't think she's having a crisis of confidence or anything like that. Prechtel is shooting it really well right now and the Cougs have a difficult time guarding the perimeter. Plus, it pulled their lone big out which enable O-boards. Ashton can really stretch the floor and that's tough on the Cougs. In games where the other team has multiple posts and/or rebounding is at a premium, my guess is Fran will come in first and as others have mentioned, we could see 2 of our posts on the floor at the same time.
Happy problems!

Belibi has a nice second half. If her confidence was suffering, she may've gotten it back.
The win was workmanlike; we just Stanforded them to death, suffocating them with our defense.
I think the Cougs ended up with three air ball shot attempts.
Prechtel still must get more assertive.
Brink has a nice game; Tara just didn't need as much from her.
Kiana has been stellar.
A good team. And deep.
Midseason honors:
Best braids: Brink
Most effective shooters: Brink (.652), Prechtel (.618), Wilson (.595), Jump (.570); Haley (.560)
Best hair: Jones; All American candidate
Best shoes: Kiana
Best eyelashes: Arkansas's Chelsea Dungee.

That dark lining is still there.
Against a much shorter team, we got 35.7% of the rebounds at our basket, and 64.1% of the rebounds at their basket.
In the first game, it was 35.3% and 59.1%.

MT, there's a tale of three Stanford teams here.
With Brink in the lineup, we probably get 70%+ of the available rebounds on the defensive glass.
With Belibi and Prechtel together, we're probably close to 65%.
But without Brink and with only Belibi or Prechtel as our "big," the percentage might dip below 60%--
and even more when she needs to rest Haley, Stanford's second best defensive rebounder.
It's a question of trade offs. Coach likes to have our two senior guards, Lexie, and Haley on the court as much as possible,
partly because she believes defense always finds its level while offense is one night the hoops a tea cup, the next night it's an ocean.
That leaves for only one of Brink, Belibi and Prechtel, and she is bringing Brink along slowly, which opens us up more on defensive glass.
And I also think Tara was confident that the key to the games was shutting down the Legler-Walkers and pressuring the deep shots,
which sometimes ends up softening the middle. And missed deeper shots tend to produce long rebounds that take away some of the defensive rebounders advantage.
