ESPN has us at #3 in the Way-Too-Early Rankings next year behind South Carolina, who incredibly returns everyone it sounds like except Henderson and then UConn, who are expected to lose Nelson-Ododa and Williams.
Arizona is at #12, Oregon checks in #18, Utah is right behind them at #19 and UCLA rounds out the five Pac-12 teams in the rankings at #22.
Oh, wow, all this time I thought Henderson was a freshman. I think she only appeared on my radar in the second half of our game at South Carolina. Really thought she deserved the MOP of the Final Four.
Agree with you on Henderson as MOP. She was fantastic. (And btw, in addition to scoring well, she held in check both Van Lith and Bueckers).
Bree Beal had the assignment against Van Lith. 6'1 forward
I stand corrected. Beal did a great job on Van Lith. Henderson did a very good job on Bueckers, as did Lacie or Lexie or whomever was guarding her (the problem was, neither scored 25+ points . . . nor did they in aggregate).

As I was watching Beal vs Van Lith i was wondering who Beal would guard on Stanford. Beal and Saxton both great motors for SC, especially on o-boards. Saxton relentless

Wow... I can't find that anyone has mentioned this yet here. I saw it on GoStanford hours ago.
Lexie declares for WNBA draft
I wish her all the best.

Great to hear, though basically I think everyone was expecting this, no?

I think we would’ve been shocked had she not declared for the draft. The surprise to me was that no one else reported it earlier.

Short discussion on TOS. Will be tough to make WNBA roster - need to find a team that puts a premium on her "Swiss Army Knife" game.
Europe will be there, though, regardless.

The road wasn't easy for Kiana Williams, but she is on the Phoenix roster atm. I wonder if Lexie has a greater or a lesser chance?

Ashley Owusu has entered the transfer portal...

I am beginning to think that the most effective coaches going forward will be those who can put a new team together every single year, almost from scratch. I think it was Geno who pointed out that 20-25% of all DIV I WBB players are in the portal. It gives recruiting a radical new meaning. Stanford may be one of the only teams that still has a chance of "building" a team over 4 years as in the olden days--and that because of the reputation of our degree and the kind of student it attracts. Nearly every other coach is going to be doing what Graves and Frese and oh so many others are doing--shopping for talent out of the portal on an annual basis.
It does diminish the game, for me. I prefer teams to have continuity, reputations, loyalty. And every transfer to better an athletic career is a reminder that "student-athlete" was always a fiction to most.
I know I am weird, but the many changes to college sports of late seem custom designed to sap my interest and drive me away.

I'm totally with you on this. It's one of the reasons that I've been more of a WBB fan than men -- all those men's teams that rely on one and done players to succeed are a turn off for me. I like the sense of a real TEAM, and that's what you don't get when you have players out of, then back into, etc. the portal. Stanford will keep me as a fan only so long as it doesn't get into the transfer portal roulette game -- so far so good on that. I also think that an earlier comment about the effect of the portal has merit -- that because players don't develop as a team, together, it affects the way the game is played, more helter skelter. And that's not good either.

1. And I think the guy at Louisville is going to prove very adept at working the portal to his advantage. [Didn't he have 3 prominent transfers on this year's team?]. Roster unseen, I expect Louisville to be contending for FF again next year.
2. Same. But Stanford has a couple countervailing portal forces that few schools enjoy (national contender; elite degree). But even with those forces, there is no guarantee that Stanford WBB won't lose some undergrads to the portal.

I wonder if South Carolina lands Owusu to help offset losing Henderson (though they already had two rising sophs, one redshirted, looking promising there, and one of their incoming McD's AA's looked like PG version of Seimone Augustus). Scary stuff.

Enjoying the season’s-over-what’s-next attitude of the posters. 81Alum and WBB fan expressed my views.
No one mentioned Aggie sinking 3 three-pointers in the public practice back in the fall. And the fact that she started to drive as the season closed. I am delighted by her enthusiasm and camaraderie, and I’d love to see her have a great year.
See some of you at the banquet! I’ll be wearing red and have gray hair!

I don't see Kiana listed on the Phoenix roster, but Wikipedia says she signed a training camp contract with them on March 1, so at least she'll get a chance to make it.
She has been playing in Australia (as recently as March 26). Of course the US season starts after most overseas leagues are done for the season.

Yup. She said in her message she wants to compete for a national championship. I'd be surprised if she ends up anywhere else.

I know a program that is losing three guards and could use a point guard. I assume the chances we take a transfer are slim to none, and slim went out of town.

Weirdness at Maryland. Wonder what's up there?
FWIW Owusu could win a national championship here and would help with the guard shortage. But Tara seems dead set against the concept and who knows about academics? (and I've read the earlier comments too - feel the same way)
I had the impression that South Carolina was loaded, with HG 2021 #2,3, and 4, all guards, as freshmen this year who didn't really even play. I wouldn't see room for her.
I'd guess LSU or Louisville as those are strong programs or coaches willing to take transfers to make it happen.
