After brief internet searching, you are right about the father. Names of his parents from his Syracuse bio match the names in the first article.

That's not even all there is. What I posted on TOS when somebody asked if it was the same Lamson who went to Homestead:
Unless there is an epidemic of 58 year old guys named Jeff Lamson married to women named Lisa who live in Northern California, I believe it is not only the same Jeff Lamson you're thinking about but also the same Jeff Lamson who was fired as Homestead's football coach and math teacher for molesting two teenage girls and then was sentenced to three and a half years in prison (saved the longer sentence due to the statute of limitations) and the same Jeff Lamson who was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in 2015 for wire fraud in connection with embezzling over $400,000 from his former employer. The rapist (whose own defense claimed anti-social and narcissistic personality disorders) coached football at Homestead and had a wife named Lisa (per her pleas on his behalf in the Chronicle story on it) and the embezzler was from Justin Lamson's hometown of El Dorado Hills, so all appears to add up, including the ages, addresses, and spouse names. For what it's worth, Justin Lamson's Syracuse bio mentioned Jeff and Lisa as his parents and his commitment out of high school was done with a happy family photo of the three of them.
There have been players with complicated family histories before and there always will be, just sharing because you asked and the Google searching was.....interesting.

Chip Allers signed with Oregon. Not sure if he is a walk-on or a scholarship player there.

Thanks for this, MKW. Had not seen this.
I found that Allers is also a walk-on at Oregon. I think that he probably just wanted to stay closer to home. I wonder why Stanford did not offer a scholie. Allers is a three-star on 247, and we certainly have scholarships to spare.

He is
as low of a 3-star as it gets, by only one service, at the strongest position on the roster (OLB), at which we signed at least 1, possibly 2, more scholarship players in the same class (Tre Williams/Omar Staples).
I am strongly against "offering a schollie just because we have the room." The situation must make sense. This one does not.

I agree that no scholarship should be forthcoming. I wonder what impact Oregon's NIL program had here. I suspect everyone on Oregon's team, even walk-ons, has a minimum payment. That payment combined with in-state tuition probably makes fora compelling case for Oregon.

Doesn't this statement (everyone on the team, including walk-ons, having a minimum payment) describe Stanford? Am I misremembering that every Stanford football walk-on gets $10K and every Stanford basketball walk-on gets $50K?

You are not misremembering. I don't think as many folks are aware of this as we may assume.

Pretty scary. I think Levi Rogers and Connor McLaughlin are the only two left from last year's season-opening OL 2-deep.

Checking this up to date 2023 roster, thanks to Langdude et al, and all things considered, my compliments to TT and Co.
I had a quibble with Coach Shaw in his departing interview, where I appreciated much he said, but took issue with one statement:
I'm leaving this program in good shape.
No, I thought quite the opposite.
But given the jailbreak handed to him, I credit TT and Co for at least filling the positions.
That alone was no small task.
OK on paper, not a real impressive roster.
But Coach Shaw in last few years had some rosters looked great on paper and we know how that worked out.
So here's hoping this new team can outperform their general lack of pedigree and cause a few surprises this season.

This could be one of the weakest rosters since I dunno when. Seriously. When was it ever worse, Denny Green's first year? I'm probably underrating Jack E.

Since there is so little discussion about football on this board, I'm putting this here because it is a pinned thread.
I question this guy's assumption that Troy Taylor's offense will resemble David Shaw's, and his use of a way outdated Stanford logo in the video (even though he has right one in the thumbnail), but otherwise, has some good things to say here. Do y'all agree with the list?
One thing I agree with is that based on what I saw of Sac State last year, the TE has a gigantic role in Troy Taylor's offense. Yorusek and Roush will put up big numbers.

I think the guy hit upon most of the people who will be Stanford's top players next year.
We can always hope for a few emerging.
We have some good players; the $64 question is do we have enough of them.
With the '24 recruiting class there is hope for the future.
