This is the best live stream I have ever watched. I love that you can zoom in the cameras and the score line is shown on the screen. GO CARD!

Dang, I lost the live stream and the live stats. I see we won 4-0. Yepinova was losing when I last looked, so I guess she lost. Which is hard to believe as the #5, but I guess she might be rusty from time off.

They abandon the unfinished matches once the result is conclusive - but yes, Yepifanova was down in the third. Some rust to shake off and some endurance to build, but promising that she took that first set. From a Stanford perspective, a rusty Yepifanova is going to be an upgrade over Sun or Shaffer playing - despite Shaffer showing some signs of improvement lately.
Driscoll continues to be a bright spot - I’ll be curious to see how NC State goes this weekend.
RE: Lorcan -
Lorcan - 04-13-2025
Stanford drops the doubles point despite a tremendous win from Ma/Glozman over the #3 team in the country.
Connie Ma just getting blown off the court today is a bit of a surprise - at this point, you're looking for Glozman, Driscoll, and Okpara to close out and someone else to battle back. At this juncture, it's looking like Xu is leading the fightback as Ma and Yepifanova are down big in the second.
Ma 1-6 0-3
Glozman 7-5
Driscoll 6-2 2-2
Xu 2-6 3-0
Yepifanova 1-6 1-3 - it doesn't look like she's fully ready to return.
Okpara 6-4
RE: Women's Tennis: Spring 2025 -
Lorcan - 04-13-2025
NC State quickly gets two more points, as Yepifanova and Ma fall by similar scorelines. Driscoll is a bright spot as she comfortably wins at #3. Xu forces a third and there's still hope for a nice win today.
Ma 1-6 3-6
Glozman 7-5 5-2
Driscoll 6-2 6-4
Xu 2-6 6-2
Yepifanova 1-6 3-6
Okpara 6-4 2-3
A hold of tremendous value as Chidimma Okpara saves 0-40 to level at 3-3 in the second set. Glozman closes out her match, and Stanford now only trails 2-3. We need both Xu and Okpara.
Xu 2-6 6-2 0-1 - Xu lost a deciding break point to open the third - work to do here.
Okpara 6-4 3-3.
A nervy hold for Valencia Xu, as she wins a deciding point on her serve. Disaster on Court 6 though, as a visibly tiring Okpara gets broken in the second.
Xu 2-6 6-2 1-1
Okpara 6-4 3-5
Xu breaks on a deciding point on a let first serve! Those are quite tricky to manage. Okpara is then the victim of a let ace - where the ball clips the net but is in play and Okpara is going to a third.
Xu 2-6 6-2 2-1
Okpara 6-4 3-6
RE: Women's Tennis: Spring 2025 -
Lorcan - 04-13-2025
Xu levels the match at 3-3, but Okpara is down 4-1 in the third. She seems to have just run out of gas after 3-3 in the second set playing against a tough ranked opponent on #6.
RE: Women's Tennis: Spring 2025 -
ColoradoTree - 04-15-2025
Really lovely to see Yepifanova back, but even at 5, she's clearly showing lots of rust. Feels like a little too late for her to ramp up and be at Peak Sasha by the time NCAAs roll around, you know? Assuming Hui is out, a top 6 of Glozman, Ma, Yepifanova, Driscoll, Xu, and Okpara could absolutely go on a run, depending on how things go.
RE: Women's Tennis: Spring 2025 -
Lorcan - 04-17-2025
ACC Championships kicking off today - and #7 seed Stanford kicks it off against #10 Miami by dropping the doubles point. Glozman dropped the first set in an epic tiebreaker that went to 13-11, and there's work to do as Stanford only won the first set on three courts. One bright spot right now is Yepifanova on #5 is seemingly coasting her way to a win.
Miami 1-0
Ma 6-4 1-2
Glozman 6-7(11) 1-0
Driscoll 3-6 3-4
Xu 6-1 1-6
Yepifanova 7-6 4-0
Okpara 5-7 2-2
Driscoll falls despite having a few break points to level the set. Yepifanova struggling to close this one out. Okpara has battled back to force a third. We're still hunting for four.
Miami 2 Stanford 0
Ma 6-4 5-3
Glozman 6-7 2-4
Driscoll 3-6 5-7
Xu 6-1 1-6 3-3
Yepifanova 7-6 5-5
Okpara 5-7 6-3
RE: Women's Tennis: Spring 2025 -
Lorcan - 04-17-2025
Yepifanova gets pushed to a third, Glozman just struggling today. Okpara trying to close out. Xu battling. You need one of Glozman or Yepifanova to battle back along with the other three. Ma pulls us one back.
Miami 2 Stanford 1.
Ma 6-4 7-5
Glozman 6-7 4-5*
Xu 1-6 6-1 5-4
Yepifanova 7-6 6-7
Okpara 5-6 6-3 *2-1
Xu comes through!
Miami 2 Stanford 2
Ma 6-4 7-5
Glozman 6-7 6-5*
Driscoll 3-6 5-7
Xu 1-6 6-1 6-4
Yepifanova 7-6 6-7 0-2
Okpara 5-6 6-3 3-1
Glozman pushes to a third, Yepifanova still alive (barely), Okpara level in the third.
Glozman 6-7 7-6
Yepifanova 7-6 6-7 1-4
Okpara 5-7 6-3 3-3
RE: Women's Tennis: Spring 2025 -
Lorcan - 04-17-2025
It's looking grim, Okpara falls after showing some promise on 6. Yepifanova saves a match point on deciding point! She'll serve to stay in this. A glimmer of hope quickly fading.
Miami 3 Stanford 2
Glozman 6-7 7-6 1-1
Yepifanova 7-6 6-7 *4-5
Yepifanova holds!
Yepifanova 7-6 6-7 5-5*
Glozman 6-7 7-6 *1-2
THE FIGHT FROM ALEXANDRA YEPIFANOVA! So incredible to see!
Yepifanova trailed 1-5 in the third, and she's just broken for the lead! Glozman quickly follows suit, breaking to get an edge in her third set! We're staying alive here!
Yepifanova 7-6 6-7 *6-5
Glozman 6-7 7-6 *3-2
Yepifanova gets broken back, and they're off to a third set breaker.
Yepifanova quickly went down 3-0 in the breaker, but has battled back to a 5-4 lead. Nervy moments here.
YEPIFANOVA HAS DONE IT! 7-6 6-7 7-6(5).
Glozman leads 5-2, and Stanford all of the sudden in the drivers seat.
and somehow, against long odds, Stanford comes out on top against Miami. It should've been more comfortable than this and excuse my excitement over the Yepifanova comeback - what a moment for her. Glozman, Ma, Yepifanova, and Xu leading the way once more through some tough matches and it looked
bleak at moments today - but they live to fight another day and get #2 North Carolina tomorrow in what will be a much sterner test. There's a part of me that wishes that we got Duke again instead of UNC, but alas.
@Colorado Tree - if you're about, I hope you don't mind my adoption of commentary which is probably much less polished than yours. Always happy to try and talk about this program.

Thanks for the blow-by-blow Lorcan. I love the grit our team showed in this match. Now they need to win that doubles point to start matches.

Thanks for the commentary Lorcan.
Pretty amazing that Yepifanova was able to outlast her opponent in a full three setter in just her 2nd(?) match back after her long layoff.

And all three sets went to a tiebreaker. And she came back from down match point in the second set tiebreaker and 1-5 in the third set.

It looked really bleak and stopped following when Okpara was just a point away from defeat. At that moment, Sasha was down 1-5 and just looked out of it. Wow!!!! just wow! What a comeback and what a gritty win.

Cardinal v. UNC getting underway.
You can watch
here.
As usual, doubles not looking good. It's going to be a tough ask to find four singles wins against this UNC squad.
Doubles is going meekly into the night as Glozman/Ma drop at #1 6-2, and Okpara/Shaffer are down 5-2 on #3. Shaffer has really struggled with her serve today - it's not been pretty anytime I've looked over to that court.
RE: Women's Tennis: Spring 2025 -
Lorcan - 04-18-2025
That'll do it. A slightly bright sign that Driscoll and Xu were fighting against #13 Tanguilig/Matlby. Just given the impressive lineup that UNC has, it's hard to see where we grab 4 points. If Yepifanova has anything left in the tank after yesterday's heroics, I'll be surprised.
UNC 1 Stanford 0
#4 Reese Brantmeier v. #11 Connie Ma (Last time out, Connie led Reese on Stanford's home court in the third.)
#50 Tatum Evans v. #6 Valerie Glozman
#20 Theadora Rabman v. #84 Caroline Driscoll (Rabman split sets with Glozman at Stanford, and has since moved down a line.)
Alanis Hamilton v. Valencia Xu
#46 Carson Tanguilig v. Alexandra Yepifanova (Morgan Shaffer led Tanguilig 6-4 4-5 - but you have to wonder if Tanguilig was injured that time out and how Yepifanova will be doing.)
Susanna Maltby v. Chidimma Okpara
Just looking for other points of reference.
Tatum Evans did beat Ma 6-3 4-6 7-5 at ITA All Americans.
Glozman comfortably beat Rabman 6-4 6-2 at NCAA Individuals
In looking at past results, it's moments like these that I really wish we still had Alexis Blokhina and I wonder how her decision to go pro went down.
RE: Women's Tennis: Spring 2025 -
cardfan77 - 04-18-2025
This team would be so much better with a healthy Yepifanova and Hui and Blokhina staying.
RE: Women's Tennis: Spring 2025 -
Lorcan - 04-18-2025
We can digress about how Stanford sports would be much better with healthy players or players staying. ;)
Glozman with the early break. Driscoll getting blown off the court. Yepifanova down early. Early going, but going to have to start figuring out where points are coming from.
Ma 2-1*
Glozman *2-1
Driscoll 0-3
Xu 1-3
Yepifanova 0-4
Okpara *1-1
Yepifanova just out of gas it seems. At this point, you're looking for Ma, Glozman, Okpara to find a way through. Then you need one of Driscoll, Xu, or Yepifanova to turn things around. It's a tough ask.
Ma 3-2*
Glozman *3-2
Driscoll 1-4
Xu 1-4
Yepifanova 0-6
Okpara 2-2
aaand Okpara gets broken. Glozman and Ma leading the way right now. Carolina tough as nails this year.
Ma 5-2
Glozman 5-3
Driscoll 1-6
Xu 3-5
Yepifanova 0-6 1-1
Okpara 2-4
Glozman and Ma close out their first sets, Xu saves two set points and is serving to stay in the set. Okpara pulls one break back
Ma 6-2
Glozman 6-3
Driscoll 1-6 0-2
Xu 4-5
Yepifanova 0-6 1-4
Okpara 3-5
