STANFORD 30, SJST 29. !!
Never a doubt. So taking the FG at minute 6 was critical by Reich

The 2pt conversion is a screen pass to Roush, who dropped it and was thankfully whistled dead before a SJSU player would have returned it for two...

Can we stop them with 11 seconds left?
RE: SJSU Game Thread -

Jay Green knocks the ball out of Leland Smith's hands...that would have put SJSU in FG range. Wow.
On a trick play, SJSU puts the ball on the ground after a 16yd reception (attempted hook and lateral), and Stanford recovers!

Nope just another routine victory.

So many bad plays, by both teams. But, to say the least, this game was a must-win for Stanford to have hopes of a true bounce-back season (5+ wins).
In the moment, I'm discouraged at the lack of rushing yards and let's just say, ahem, spotty defense (no credit for missed field goals under 30 yards). But this type of comeback win really does build confidence for the passing game, which absolutely had to improve for any chance at that 5+ win season. We have to believe at least the penalties will get cleaned up, and I guess there's always hope for improvement running the ball -- that first possession was a thing of beauty, at least.
I have no idea where this team is headed, but for one night at least I'm glad they get to enjoy victory.

Wouldn't say a game that hinged on a 34yd reception on 4th and 10 as well as a defensive pass breakup that would have otherwise allowed SJSU to kick a game-winning FG is a reason to rely on a QB. This was a one-point win against SJSU at home. To Ben's credit, it's been a long time since a Stanford QB threw for 400+ yds.

Coming into today San Jose State ranked No. 114 in rushing defense. Sigh.
