Interesting stat, Needle. At the end of the first half, I mentally noted that WSU got the kick off and was able to get the ball for the last drive of the half, so they were guaranteed at least 1 more total possession than Stanford. But I didn't realize how few scoring opportunities we would have.
We had one possession of double digit plays compared to 5 for WSU. I find that telling as well.

What happened to Colorado could happen to us, and they might not call off the dogs in the 2nd half. It's a frightening prospect.
Have you seen our defense? We are NOT Colorado. While I think that Oregon is very impressive, and I do not expect to beat them, there is a reason they are not ranked #1--they have not played a good team yet. The best team they have played is Arizona, and if AZ had not made made a series of unforced errors early in the game they would have been up 28-3 at the end of the first quarter. I do not expect Oregon to be able to do whatever they want vs. the Stanford defense, and I certainly do not expect them to run the ball with the same level of success they have enjoyed so far this year. Enough hysteria.

While I agree we are no Colorado, our performance against UA and to a lesser extent WSU makes me nervous. And those games were in the comfy confines of Stanford stadium. Our defense is great against pro style offenses like ND and USC. But put them against a fast paced, spread out, speed driven offense and we're in trouble. We better find a way to have some extended drives on offense, or else our boys are going to get gassed.

Speaking of getting worn out on defense, seems they've been making a concerted effort to get a lot of guys playing time. I actually had to listen to the WSU game on the KZSU web site and I kept hearing that Hoffpaur and Carrington were in the game. It was funny because I was feeling worried that Reynolds had been a little quiet of late when suddenly he had his pick-6. They're playing 4 cornerbacks. Coaches obviously chose to make use of Shittu this year for or during the AZ game. In this sense they seem to be putting something in place for OU (on defense).
