Hopefully Stanford will do away with huddling in the 4th quarter until they score a TD.

Re: Utah game thread - 82 Card - 10-12-2013

Altitude affects a lot more than just getting tired faster. It can slow you down even when you are supposedly fresh. But our team's conditioning has looked suspect all year. I guess we'll see if there's another gear when desperate.

We're going to need a big takeaway or maybe a score from the defense.  Offense hasn't shown the ability to move the ball since the 1st quarter.

Agreed. They need to pick it up and change the pace - and the energy

Re: Utah game thread - Farm93 - 10-12-2013

Stanford does not deserve to win at this point.  Stanford needs some INT charity, and that is unlikely given the score.  I guess I can hope that Utah gets too conservative too soon.

Re: Utah game thread - Griffins78 - 10-12-2013

We cannot stop the run. That's whats amazing.

Re: Utah game thread - OutsiderFan - 10-12-2013

I don't think David Parry is healthy.  Anderson is out, and so is Nwafor.  That would explain a lot.

Re: Utah game thread - JohnR34231 - 10-12-2013

Yeah, given out total offensive impotence in the second half, I don't think the defense has played that badly.

You have to go back to the Josh Nunes days to recall out offense being this ineffective.

Re: Utah game thread - dabigv13 - 10-12-2013

Need a big drive here, there is still time to run the ball, especially if we run hurry up. Hogan has demonstrated he can't just air it out, he needs to be running a balanced offense.

I really hope Shaw reveals in the postgame conference that the entire team came down with virulent diarrhea or something. Because we've played terribly and there is no excuse right now.

Re: Utah game thread - JohnR34231 - 10-12-2013

OK we got the ball at midfield.

It's now or never, guys.

Re: Utah game thread - dabigv13 - 10-12-2013

Horrible playcall to open the drive. Goddamnit.

Re: Utah game thread - estephan500 - 10-12-2013

My off the cuff, sloppy diagnosis:

-- latent issues about offense and defense that had not been addressed in previous games, and those that talked of them before were shouted down with "we got the W, didn't we"

-- semi trap-game mentality

-- high elevation

Re: Utah game thread - dabigv13 - 10-12-2013

Goddamnit.

Re: Utah game thread - 82 Card - 10-12-2013

Our O line is getting beat.

Re: Utah game thread - TreeFitty - 10-12-2013

Oh the domination. :(

Re: Utah game thread - dabigv13 - 10-12-2013

Whew. Concerning that we have to beat them with trickeration, but whew. Nice call, well executed.

Re: Utah game thread - dabigv13 - 10-12-2013

Looks like a TD. Foot touches, controls it all the way through.

A pet peeve of mine- football commentators waffling on replay reviews. Be definitive.

Re: Utah game thread - 82 Card - 10-12-2013

I think it's amazing the officials on the field were able to get it right. It's clear on the replay that it was a TD. But seeing that right live is not easy.

Re: Utah game thread - Kathy - 10-12-2013

Touchdown!
Please, sir, may we have another?

Re: Utah game thread - JohnR34231 - 10-12-2013

In the immortal words of Jim Carrey (AKA Lloyd Christmas).

So you're telling me that there's a chance?
