Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

What are we doing on offense here? Why are we taking so long? Are we playing for a FG with a first time kicker? WTF

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - akCard - 10-19-2013

My first thought was that was a bailout call by the refs but Mora isn't blowing up on the sideline so I'm guessing it was legit.

Or maybe he's just gotten used to the calls going against his team.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

Another terrible Stanford drop....christ

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - Kathy - 10-19-2013

Cajuste should've hung on to that ball.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - 82 Card - 10-19-2013

Hogan made a great play. Still goes on his stats as an interception.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - washingtonismoney - 10-19-2013

Offensively, we conceptually look fine and are making a lot of nice plays, but we're making some dumb errors and have had some fluky plays go against us.

Defensively, I've never seen a team dare its opponents to run so much. And UCLA is, in fact, declining to run! It's amazing to me.

First half game ball.....

........to the officials, who have dropped a lot of laundry, some of it deserved, some of it questionable.

It definitely does not go to our receivers, who have developed a serious case of butterfingers. Make some plays and it is 17-0.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - Cardinal96 - 10-19-2013

We have over 200 yards of offense and have 3 yards to show for it.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

On another note, Vanderbilt fake FG for the TD with the sweetest play of the day. WOW that was nice.

Tennessee's win against South Carolina a nice bonus for the Pac12 SOS (and Stanford's NC hopes if 1 loss teams are in play....)

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - akCard - 10-19-2013

D seems to have returned to form but O is still stumbling along like it has been since the game against Washington.

Offense has flashes of brilliance/competence - that quick drop and bullet pass by Hogan for a 19-yard completion to Cajuste was particularly nice - but then bogs down with either poor or puzzling play calling. Methinks the biggest thing is that opposing P12 defenses have figured out how to stop Stanford's grinding run game.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - Kathy - 10-19-2013

It's time for Plan B.
I hope we have a Plan B.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - JohnR34231 - 10-19-2013

Offense has flashes but lacks any kind of consistency.

We make a few good plays, and then someone drops the ball, or we get a penalty or something else happens to kill the drive.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

We're running the ball well..Gaffney has 57 yards and is averaging 4.4 yards. Hogan with 33 yards averaging 6.6. But as JPRI points out, we can't put things together. Our offense is reliant on long sustained drives, but we're not executing well enough to put points on the board. We had one near-big play, but Ty dropped the ball.

Either we sharpen up, or we hit some big gainers...

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - Fuzzy Dunlop - 10-19-2013

That play by Skov was wonderful.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

Overall good defensive stand....surprised we've been allowing Hundley so much running room given his mobility. Also have to be glad UCLA's OL is decimated, so our comparatively thin DL is holding their own.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

Goddamn, how many plays have we missed coming back from commercials? ESPN coverage is shit right now.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - akCard - 10-19-2013

NIIIICCCEE!!!

(Mean Montgomery's catch, not him kneeling on the turf.....)

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

Great Stanford drive here...positive yards running, opens up long pass on 1st down with a very sweet protection scheme.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

OH MY GOD

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - 82 Card - 10-19-2013

Holy cow. What a catch.
