In 2006, if this had been written, I would have wondered why more dirt was being kicked in the face of the team.
Again, Harbaugh's vision, the subsequent recruiting and Shaw's stewardship to create this power offense, defensive behemoth seems even more remarkable if you think back to what the team was 7 years ago.

An excerpt from a CBSSportsline story:
Get a nasty offensive line and move people until they can stop you, just like Stanford did with its slow Duck roast.
The Stanford offense that once belonged to Jonathan Martin, whose face is emblazoned in Stanford Stadium as an All-American, milked clock for more than 42 minutes and converted 12 of its first 16 third downs with
glass-chewing toughness.
There is also a great comment from Shaw on the mythology that the SEC is tougher than the Pac-12.

Congratulations on the win, and on seeing some measure of your desired story line develop.
Enough of the nameless faceless opponent mantra in Eugene. We officially have a "Stanford problem."

Darn you Canard, for being well-mannered and displaying good sportsmanship. If more of you Duckies behave this way, you'll ruin my well-formed stereotype of the D-bag Oregon fan.
I gotta say, Mariota was impressive to me. I know this was not a great game, but he still made some amazing throws. Very reminiscent of throws Luck made when he was on the Farm. I hope he enters the draft.
See you next year in Eugene.
