I take this as he is far enough down on the defensive depth chart that he is not getting a lot of defensive reps in practice . . . and so has time to run the scout team at least for Army and other teams with running quarterbacks

1. Better distance on kickoffs.
2. No missed field goals.
Unrelated note, but the Virginia Tech helmets look great. It would have been nice if Stanford put something like that together, but it would have been awkward to do so while playing Army.

Remember that touchbacks come out to the 25 in college. If you have a good kickoff coverage team, you're better off with a relatively high kick that doesn't go all the way to the end zone. Williamson does a pretty good job of that. I don't have the statistics handy, but I'd bet that the average result has been better than if he got a touchback every time.

Williamson can kick it through the end zone when needed. When his kicks fall short it is most likely on purpose.
