I just saw the vegas line at -3.5. If you were to bet on any game this year favoring Stanford to cover the spread, this is the one.

Schematically, we are a nightmare for ASU. They do not match up well against us on either side of the ball.

Their inexperienced defense will give up at least 24 points to Stanford and our defense tends to make seasoned, experienced, playmaking QBs look especially bad; this QB is making his third start and their offense probably will not make it out of the low teens.

Yes, they beat USC but they had three very long TD passes that took advantage of their inexperienced corners. USC also kept moving up their stud safety, Sua Cravens, into more of a linebacker role for some reason...not sure why since the rushing attack was effectively shutdown by their front seven.

Feeling very good about the outcome of this game in Tempe.

I do. Lack of DL depth was a key factor behind our SC and Utah losses last year. It's bad, bad news.

It will definitely affect the game, the question is what chance it has of affecting the outcome. I'd say low but non-negligible, it depends on whether the offensive revival started last week continues, and whether anyone else can step up to fill the void now that one definitely exists (alternatively if the coaches can successfully scheme around the absence, maybe more blitzing this week).

The line has moved from Stanford -4.5 to Stanford -3.5.  Sounds like the wisdom of the crowds believes Shittu is worth 1 point.

The Sun Devils start off hot but stall in the red zone despite wracking up some impressive yardage totals. Stanford's offense, meanwhile, has surprising success running between the tackles and with long pass plays to Rector and Owusu. The game is very close until the last 10 minutes, when costly Arizona State turnovers lead to easy Stanford scores.
