Re: Week 6 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-10-2015

Down goes Oklahoma.  TOSU poured it on in the second half.

The result does give a boost to the 59ers' resume, of course, but also reaffirms Charlie Strong knows what he's doing. Which should make us pleased about all those players with Texas offers Stanford's luring this class.

Re: Week 6 in opponents - yvonne - 10-10-2015

Kal is looking a lot more real than I had believed.

Re: Week 6 in opponents - washingtonismoney - 10-10-2015

Northwestern promptly gives up a TD on the opening kickoff of the game.

Re: Week 6 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-10-2015

In better news, Navy just scored on UDFG and is up 7-0.

Re: Week 6 in opponents - washingtonismoney - 10-10-2015

NW produces not much of anything, then Michigan methodically drives and is up 14-0.

How Stanford lost to Northwestern is one of the greatest mysteries of the universe.

Re: Week 6 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-10-2015

Michigan scores again after NW misses a field goal.  They are up 21-0.

I *guess* Jim Harbaugh knows what he's doing: https://twitter.com/umichfootball/status/652941091411525633

Re: Week 6 in opponents - winflop - 10-10-2015

Michigan looks like the best team in the B1G.  Northwestern is still a Top 25 team but not in the same class.

No, they aren't.  They have no QB.  End of discussion.

Re: Week 6 in opponents - washingtonismoney - 10-10-2015

WSU scores, up 21-17 against Oregon. Oregon's defense looked Arizona-esque on that drive, just incredibly soft.

Re: Week 6 in opponents - French Rage - 10-10-2015

Maybe Oregon got demoralized when they looked at their helmets.

Please.  Not end of discussion, this is a discussion board. No need to be summarily dismissive of other's comments and give yourself the final word on a topic.

Miraculous that, somehow, Northwestern could get to 5-0 before today's loss while lacking a QB.  Yet, there they were, with victories over some admitted cupcakes (East Illinois and Ball State) but also over Stanford and Duke (currently 5-1).  This is Michigan's third consecutive shutout, including a shutout against BYU, who I think we can agree has a QB. Maybe this has more to do with Michigan's resurgence under Harbaugh than it does total incompetence at a single position on one team.

I think that if we played Northwestern again, even if we played them in Evanston at the same time of day, we would win.  But first games of the year are notoriously dangerous, especially on the road against a team that is not a total pushover.  This is precisely why so many teams schedule totally overmatched opponents in order to work off some of the rust in the first week.  It is to our credit, and Northwestern's, that we had a significant game on the first week.  But, we clearly were not ready and paid the price.

Re: Week 6 in opponents - thunder_chik - 10-10-2015

A Stanford vs Michigan bowl game could be quite interesting...

Re: Week 6 in opponents - washingtonismoney - 10-10-2015

WSU showing an unusual desire to run the ball (relatively speaking) against Oregon, and succeeding at it when they bother.

Re: Week 6 in opponents - CompSci87 - 10-10-2015

WSU ties it on a TD with 1 second left. Overtime!

Re: Week 6 in opponents - martyup - 10-10-2015
