ANOTHER wasted red zone trip.
This. is. how. we. lose. this. game.Â
Re: CCG Discussion Thread - Cardinal96 - 12-05-2015
Our defense has looked great tonight. Our offense has shit the bed in the Red Zone. I have no idea what that play call was.

Stupid call, but hopefully just a glitch.

1-4 in the Red Zone. If SC gets their crud together this will be painful

Why taking three points when you are up already, while not always super satisfying, is not really a bad decision

I don't think there was really a wrong decision there. Didn't work out, defense needs to step up now.

They need to start converting those red zone trip to touchdowns. Can't give USC any momentum.

Sorry, you can afford to come up empty every other try on fourth and short from the one and still be ahead going for it over kicking a field goal. When you add in the field position benefit from leaving them deep in there own territory, going for it is the right call.

I can't believe how much we've been dominating the rest of the game... and blowing the red zone is the only reason this is even a game.
This could very easily be 28-0 with all the momentum on our side.

The balance of going for it on 4th down vs. taking the points is that you're going to lose that play sometimes.

I liked going for it on fourth. I liked the play call, too--or at least the idea behind it.
Sometimes things don't work out.

Let's be easy with criticism. So far we've had critiques of both going for it and kicking the field goal in similar situations. That last call of the play action looks brilliant when the play is wide open, which it would have been but for a heads up play by the USC D-end. It's frustrating, but hardly a poor call. If I were to have any critique, it would be that USC's heavy personnel is doing a good job against our jumbo package, but we are running much more effectively out of the spread, so we should stick with that as we get closer to the endzone.

Would be really bad to go into the tunnel 13-7 with the way we've been playing.

246 all purpose yards for McC in the first half.
We need to keep feeding him the rock if we're going to win.
They can't stop him. So give him the ball. Stop putting Sanders in the game.Â

Holding SC to a field goal in the half was an unbelieveable performance by the D. Offense really should have scored 24. Really hopingit doesn't come back to bite us since SC receives the second half kickoff.

I may or may not have looked up the 2009 Big Game box score.
(But Stanford had a 14-10 halftime lead in that game. Which ended badly...)

Still up 2 scores and playing well. Keep the faith.

Good news :We dominated the first half.
Bad news: As much as we dominated the first hald we don't have much of a lead to show for it.
