I can see how your opinion might be a bit different then.

I think Dykes's decision whether to keep Goff in the game or not may shed some light on whether Goff will declare, or at least whether he has discussed it with Dykes.

I don't mind them fawning over him. He's basically the selling point for the bowl, especially now that the lead is extended.

The thing that's disturbing is that they're speaking so matter-of-factly about his foregoing his final year of eligibility.

I certainly wouldn't mind him leaving.  But it would be in his best interest for him to stay for his final year, imo.

It would be nice if he were to announce his intentions post-game.  I don't think I'll be that lucky, though.

If he is going to be a first round draft choice, why would it be in his best interest to stay?

Because his game isn't ready for the NFL, and wherever he goes he will likely be thrown right into the fire.  He would benefit tremendously from another year of seasoning.

One could argue that he would be best served by spending the next year in the NFL learning by doing, rather than putting up video game numbers in an Air Raid offense.  There could be truth in that too.

I'm not watching this game to see Goff hand it off, Dykes.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - Leftcoast - 12-29-2015

Of course Goff stayed in the game - Every Bear fan with any senses of history knows that a two touchdown lead isn't safe.

Man, is Sorry getting fat or what?

Not a Pac-12 game, but...

Baylor put up 645 yards... RUSHING! against North Carolina.  Hard to believe that this was the same North Carolina team that was a blown call away from having a chance to tie Clemson at the end of the ACC Championship game.

Baylor had a running back enter the game with 701 yards on the season, and exit the game with 1,000 yards on the season.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - BostonCard - 12-29-2015

Also not a Pac-12 game, but...

Leonard Fournette broke Herschel Walker's former record for SEC rushing yards (1891).  Thus,  Derrick Henry's singular accomplishment, eclipsing Walker's 24 year old mark, was just repeated.

In contrast, since Barry Sanders former record for all-purpose yards (3250) has over 1000 yards on every player with games left to play, it is safe to say that only Christian McCaffrey will be breaking the mark this year.  SJSU's Tyler Ervin, who finished second this year, is 613 yards behind the record, having already played his bowl.

By the way, the career AP yards record is owned by Ron Dayne, with 7125 yards.  McCaffrey is only 2833 yards behind Dayne, at 4292.  If he keeps up this year's pace of 269 AP yards per game, he will eclipse Dayne's mark on the 10th game of the season, his junior year (and only his second year starting).

Bad info there.  The career AP record holder is Brian Westbrook, from Villanova with 9512.  That leaves McCaffrey 5220 shy of the record.  At his current pace, it would take McCaffrey into his senior season to break the record (he would do so in his 20th game).  Let's hope he stays long enough for us to see him break the mark.

And they still won't give him the Voldemort...

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - terry - 12-29-2015

Villanova is an FCS school (formerly Div. IAA). Westbrook does not hold the major college record. The FBS career all purpose yardage record is 7,796 yards by Damaris Johnson of Tulsa.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - BostonCard - 12-30-2015

Thanks Terry.  For some reason I mistook Villanova for Vanderbilt.  Those v-schools.

That leaves McCaffrey 3504 yards short of the record, which means he has a very good chance of catching yup to your very distant relative by next year.  At his current pace, he would do so by the Pac-12 championship game next year.

USC not looking terribly impressive vs Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl. Down 20 - 7 midway through 3rd quarter.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - JJJ - 12-30-2015

They scored, but are still down by 6. They may have a "red and white" problem.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - rudruff - 12-30-2015

U$C's left guard has let a guy through unblocked 3 times. Hope he plays against us a lot.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - washingtonismoney - 12-30-2015

4th and 40...where have I seen that before?

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - BostonCard - 12-30-2015

USC just took the lead.  Wisconsin decided not to pass rush on that touchdown pass.  Seriously, it looked like there were three pass rushers, but two decided to take the play off or something.  The Trojan offensive line was sitting there looking for someone to block.
