Best quote of the thread, Garvin! I agree 100%, but maybe we here are more the Elks Club, LOL! If so, I nominate you "Grand Poobah!"
Regarding DR, I hope somebody on his high school faculty is helping him prep for the next test. Kudos to him for giving it his all and doing it so publically. I will be cheering for him wherever he winds up attending college. Yes, hopefully Stanford, but even if it's across the bay.Â

I'm definitely not going to root for DR if he goes to Cal. Or Notre Dame.

And I doubt it. I just googled his name. There were 319K results. I'm sure it gets fun reading the first 1K or so, but if you're narcissistic enough to read all of those results, well, I doubt you have time to do what it takes to be a Stanford man. My sister played college volleyball and she and my parents barely had time to keep up with school, sports, recruiting and friends.
And for fun, I paged through the first 10 pages, and no, this CardBoard thread did not come up.

How perfectly absurd. Literally hundreds of millions of Americans succeed in life every year. Should they all get into Stanford?
If the player is a 5 star likely NFL bound talent who can handle Stanford academically, the answer is YES, They should all get in!

Thank you, donkey. Couldn't have said it any better.

Oh come on! I'm sure two or three of them are duplicates. And anytime The Cardboard isn't on the first page it's because you are using a very inadequate search engine :)

This is the most telling article yet about Robertson's intentions.Â

If you aren't a Rivals subscriber, I'll just summarize by saying he's not stopping until he gets admitted to Stanford.

Sure you can--you just have to root in a really weird, "I hope he catches a difficult pass, jukes and outruns everybody to the 1-yard line, and then gets the ball knocked out of his hands by his own prematurely celebrating teammate resulting in a fumble recovery and touchdown for the other team," manner every time.
Man, the more I read about this kid, the more I like him. Sure hope I can just root for him to score a lot of touchdowns for his own team wearing red & white....

Let's say cardinal and white ;). Alabama's crimson and white would also be covered by the above wording.

And yet another twist...
http://usatodayhss.com/2016/five-star-demetris-robertson-still-hasnt-committed-but-at-least-he-has-a-final-official-visit-set
My guess is if he gets admitted to Stanford (which by the looks of things seems less likely given the latest from the Robertson camp, though he is taking the SAT again today), he goes to Stanford even without his sister. If he doesn't get admitted to Stanford, he'll end up at Georgia. Though I don't know how a top track school could offer a scholarship to someone who's other offer was Alabama A&M, if it means landing Demetris Robertson, I'm sure a way will be found. Stanford won't make similar exceptions for his sister.

This will be the first time DR takes the new, 2016 version of the test. Not sure if that's good or bad for his chances of getting an acceptable score.
Re: The Demetris Robertson saga takes another interesting turn -
FarmBoy - 03-05-2016
Will this also be the first time admissions will receive a score from the new test? Perhaps that will provide more flexibility in evaluating what the score means and provide a back door for his admission.

You're right, it just might be one of the first new SAT scores they will receive, as today was the first time it has been given, and I doubt if too many other Stanford candidates took it (and reported it to Stanford). As far as if it will help his chances, we can only hope.

Of course, if you're a "glass is half empty" kinda person, it may affect his admission adversely, too, I suppose.

Exceptions are made BC. We see them every year. But probably not in this case. Doesn't matter really. He isn't coming. Â
