I hope you are ready for that streak to end.

Re: 47 days till kickoff - BostonCard - 08-20-2016

Welcome DC Cat.  We would love to hear from you about the Wildcats, how your team is looking, etc.  Lots of respect for Bill Snyder of course.  We're looking forward to getting the season started.

Oh, it'll end someday.

Last year, Kansas State gave up 30 or more to eight teams, including La. Tech., Okla. St., TCU, Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas Tech, Iowa St. and Arkansas.  Stanford scored 30 or more against U$C (twice), Arizona, Oregon State, UCLA, Washington, UCF, Washington State, Colorado, Oregon and Ca.l.  Then Stanford ran into two Midwest buzzsaws and scored 38 against Noter Dame and just 35 against Iowa.  In the first half.  In the Rose Bowl.

Preseason ranking, Stanford #8 AP/ESPN, #7 Coaches poll.  KState?  Well...let's just say not in the Top 42.

See you on September 2.

Wrong place to troll Cat. There is another where you will get the rise you need to feed your delusion. Hope the harvest is bountiful. Cheers!

Re: 47 days till kickoff - slide - 08-21-2016

Phogge -- did you notice the DC for Kansas State?  Tom Hayes.  Hayes had a brief layover as Stanford DC in year one (?) of the disaster that was Wlat Harris.  I wonder if Hayes still owns Tanner's Bar in Lawrence?  DOC should have invited Hayes to Tonga.

Re: 47 days till kickoff - BostonCard - 08-21-2016

Just me, or is it a bit inauspicious that Kansas State's mascot is the wildcat, same as Northwestern's.

Good chance to exorcise our wildcat demons.

Yeah but Stanford's got a 4 game winning streak on the Arizona Wildcats, so I think we're in solid shape.

Re: 47 days till kickoff - DC Cat - 08-21-2016

Glad to rub elbows with the high class Trees from Cali. I honestly don't know anything about Stanford except that you have that WR from the Bronco's son. We have actually been pretty good against the run honestly.

We have struggled in the past against veteran and mobile quarterbacks. Doesn't sound like you'll have either. We are also returning an all conference Safety who missed all of last season after a shoulder injury in the first half of the first game last year. His leadership will be a brobdingnagian difference.

Sounds like some serious graveyard whistling.

Gosh, Stanford has never faced an all-conference defensive player. I guess we probably should concede.

Re: 47 days till kickoff - JJJ - 08-21-2016

Moving right along (it's still Sunday here): 12 days to kickoff.

And clearly you still don't know anything about Stanford because that "WR" ran for over 2,000 yards last season.

Re: 47 days till kickoff - Hulk01 - 08-22-2016

It's a credit to Snyder that KSU competes well.  But at a point and against formidable competition, talent catches up with you

In the last three classes, KSU has signed a total of five Rivals four stars.  Stanford has signed 21, plus two five-stars.

As a general proposition, Sagarin is useful in projecting outcomes.  If these two teams had played at last season's end, he'd have us as  a 20 point favorite at home.  KSU could be stronger, of course, but most of us expect the return of Phillips and Hoff and the growth of our remarkably green defense last year to make us stronger, too.  And heaven knows what havoc Love might create this year, particularly with defenses already worried about a faster, stronger, and more explosive McCaffrey and the return to Stanford, five seasons after Luck, of the intermediate and wide passing game.

Snyder's guys certainly have been remarkably good on the road: 15-9 over the last five season, and their 6-7 season last year was their first losing one in a good stretch.  But he cannot just coach his way back; he has to recruit them their, too.  And it doesn't appear they're doing that.

He was on the watch list for the Jim Thorpe last year before he was injured in the first game. KSU has also faced plenty of H-man trophy contenders. Not saying you should concede. Just saying you shouldn't look past us.

Re: 47 days till kickoff - Stymie - 08-22-2016

My maternal grandmother was on the Jim Thorpe watch list last year until they realized that both she and Jim were long deid.  The fact that they were an item in the 1910's was irrelevant.
