This is the least disciplined Stanford team in a long while.

I fear that by the end of the year we will be remembering 2014 fondly.

Surprised Bailey didn't shank that punt.  Nice kick and pretty good coverage against a dangerous returner.

The holding on Hall was utter nonsense.

Re: Stanford - UDFG game thread - BostonCard - 10-15-2016

It is so dispiriting to see us getting pushed off the ball on running plaus.

As a 49ers fan this game serves the dual purpose of watching Stanford and getting a chance to see potential 2017 draft prospect Kizer.

Guessing Meeks isn't 100% yet -- while healthy he was playing bump-and-run, and really effectively. So far tonight he's playing off the line of scrimmage a bunch.

Shaw would punt.

Off coverage isn't typically ideal for a corner with his length.

Thomas!

Re: Stanford - UDFG game thread - BostonCard - 10-15-2016

This is pretty ignominious.

Quote:This is Stanford's 3rd straight game being held scoreless in the 1st quarter. The Cardinal had only 6 total points in the first half of their previous 3 games, according to ESPN Stats and Information. Stanford moved the ball well early but had a missed FG, then had no answer for Notre Dame's rushing attack on the ensuing drive. It's 7-0 Irish behind an 8-yard TD rush from QB DeShone Kizer.

Nice play by Thomas on the sack.

Actually I bet he'd go for it. He's pretty comfortable going for it on 4th-and-short. It's going for it on greater distances that he needs more encouragement.

With respect to the game, the defense is rotating a ton still. And while the D is deeper than last year, it isn't as deep as the coaches want it to be.

Re: Stanford - UDFG game thread - BostonCard - 10-15-2016

Barton victimized in coverage.

Barton victimized AGAIN in coverage.

Re: Stanford - UDFG game thread - washingtonismoney - 10-15-2016

Barton the closest by a receiver again. the ILBs are really bad in coverage.

Re: Stanford - UDFG game thread - BostonCard - 10-15-2016

We are blitzing a bit more than usual.  Edwards saves our bacon.  Nice breakup by Lloyd.

Great play by Lloyd but he needs to be careful with the celebration.

Re: Stanford - UDFG game thread - needle - 10-15-2016

After the ND field goal, I still haven't seen anything that makes me think Stanford can win this game.

Is there potential for a big play on offense? Stanford can gamble and get to Kizer, but he's good enough to make the defense pay.
