Defense doing ok. Halftime strategy should be a Meeks pick 6.

I guess the best we can hope for is a ND/UCLA game where the defense holds on and the offense makes a fourth quarter drive to win the game.
I, too, am perplexed at how our offense is so bad.

But I guess ND, MSU, Oregon, and other fans also feel similarly. (Not that this matters much.)
It's one thing to lose. It's another to be completely inept. Oregon may suck, but Stanford's offensive ineptitude is positively cringeworthy.Â
There is no sense of urgency. No creativity. Everything is telegraphed. It's all a total grind. And above all, the QB position is frankly unfathomably awful for Stanford to put out there in any game, ever.
UCLA's backup QB to Rosen is so much better than Burns or Chryst. My question is if this is coaching, or is it just that Stanford struck out on two QBs in a row? It sure seems that given the sad state of the offense and passing game, that it has to be at the feet of whoever is responsible for developing the QBs and the passing game.

I really think that our offensive line is just not very good this year. The power running game requires precise blocking and we are regularly having completely missed blocks. Pass protection is also poor. I've never really kept track of football recruiting or who is playing on the O-line, but isn't the source of our problems obvious?
The question is, is it coaching or is it a drop off in talent that has wrecked our O-line?
I'm willing to question the QB position too, but I really think that is minor compared with our more basic problem.

Let's give credit to Thomas. He's playing at top level.

The only positive right now is that it's still only 7-3. It could have been much much worse.
The offense is brutal right now.
The 5th string Pac-12 network coverage isn't helping. Hey director, don't show a still picture of the offensive line while Colorado is running their no huddle fast paced offense just so your idiot analyst Glen Parker can wax poetic about the glory of O-line play. You missed the beginning of a big play run by Colorado. Maybe the best thing for the Pac-12 network is that no one has has it so they can't watch the atrocity that is the network's football game coverage.
Ok, end of rant. I need to complain about something because I'm at a loss to say anything about our football team.

Yes, I tried to listen to Todd Husak on 1050 but their mikes are picking up the band and I can barely hear them over the crowd noise.Â

Part of the perceived problem might be unrealistically high expectations before the season and before we knew exactly what talent Shaw had to work with. Colorado is as good or slightly better than Stanford. The closeness of the score should be expected.

I tried that too but the sound and being out of synch with the video makes it hard. Plus when the director is this BAD it doesn't matter.

I'm not mad that we're losing, I'm mad at the breathtaking inanity of the offensive gameplan so far. McCaffrey hasn't been himself since USC, Love has been our best back, how many carries does Love have? Chryst coming in repeatedly to run a draw and then leaving just telegraphs the play. We get behind the sticks and refuse to pass, falling farther behind. I usually don't want to blame the coaching staff but this is offensive.

exactly, stupac. Whatever the talent, the deployment of such is so ... pointless. I genuinely don't understand what the coaches are attempting to accomplish.

Holder hurt again. :o

The closeness of the score doesn't shock me so much as the total incompetence of our offense. Especially with the H-man runner up in the backfield.

And Shaw said he'll keep rotating QBs the rest of the game...

Now Reid is hurt. He got, what, 3 plays in this game. Remember, he had to sit out the first half because of the targeting call against ND.

I don't understand playing Holder until he's actually ready. Hopefully that's mostly about soreness or the pain of impact and not re-injury.

I give the defense credit for playing as hard as they can, but they could use some help!

Phew.
I'm not sure if I think our best chance at scoring is on offense, or on D/ST
