Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - stupac2 - 08-26-2017

From /r/cfb: "I feel like Rice's marching band needs to learn the sad Price is Right horn song to play after every drive"

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - stupac2 - 08-26-2017

Well that blocking stunt didn't work at all.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - stupac2 - 08-26-2017

Well when Love can pick up 20+ ypc getting into 3rd and 28 isn't so stupid after all!

The sack - Redrum - 08-26-2017

Who was the LT that gave up the sack.  Couldn't catch his number.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - BostonCard - 08-26-2017

Nope, but Bryce Love almost makes up for it.  Leaves us a couple yards short, and we are apparently going for it (Rice called time out) on fourth and 2 from midfield.  Good practice, I guess.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread -- sloppy in Q2 - ADPATERSON - 08-26-2017

Two sloppy plays:  Blown tackle block by Fanaika (#71) for the sack; then Chryst not handling a snap in shotgun.
Love bounces back on 3rd down to give us 4th & 2 at midfield.  Why punt up 28-0?  OK, good.  Shaw goes for it.

Chryst gets a nice toss to K.Smith for 1stD... flicked out by Rice defender.  Smith has to bring that in.

Fanaika pulling

Seriously, taking out the sacks from the rushing totals, 218 yards on 13 attempts (16.8 ypc). OTOH, the passing game - sheesh!

Why pass on fourth and 2?  I feel like we haven't had a running play go for less than 10 yards.

[/quote] Chryst needs all the game snaps/passes he can log.  Running game...not so much.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - Mick - 08-26-2017

2nd half will be interesting to see whether  we pass, and if so, who does the passing.  If it's Chryst and we pass a lot, that's the coaches wanting/needing to get more fine tuned.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread. Punting - ADPATERSON - 08-26-2017

Rice with a respectable punting game:  4 @ 46yds per.
No punts for Stanford.  Q2, 6min to go.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - lex24 - 08-26-2017

Pass worked. Smith dropped it. You know what I'd like to see - a little out pattern to Irwin. WR's don't have a catch.  Slot does (Weddington). But just a little pitch to Trenton

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - lex24 - 08-26-2017

Well he fought that one

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - BostonCard - 08-26-2017

Nice play fake, then a juggling catch by Scarlett... takes it to the 10 yard line.

I'd really like to see... - Redrum - 08-26-2017

Both Burns and Costello in same boat as Chryst...need as much work as they can get.

Scarlett looking pretty good.

Irwin caught a 13 yard pass early.

Smith caught it but it was punched out by the DB on an excellent play.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - lex24 - 08-26-2017

That may be new version of Wildcat

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - lex24 - 08-26-2017

Doc - Kaden has to pull that in. I bet if you asked him he'd say that

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - Mick - 08-26-2017

the Stanford QBs are enormous.
