UCLA’s problem is on defense; they are second to last in points given up, and dead last in yards per game, second to last in yards per play.  Given that Mora was ostensibly a defensive oriented guy, that’s a problem.

The offensive production is made more impressive by the fact that their Oline is terrible and has been for some time. Surely a lot of that falls on the coaches, but if we had their Oline we would be lucky to score 3 points per game.

Their running game hasn't been great either, probably because of their line. At times, their receivers have had a case of the drops as well. I think it is probable that their relatively good position in the offensive totals is greatly aided by them being behind and having to take chances. Lots of the numbers are effectively in garbage time. The A&M game is a example of what can happen if you have nothing to lose and sling it. That said, it is absolutely not Rosen's fault they haven't won more this year. With a reasonable defense, they would be quite good, if not elite.

I wasn't really being serious.
But at the least, it is ironic that the UCLA downfall coincided with Rosen enrolling.

Josh Rosen's comments on Mora's departure for your reading pleasure.
Don't think he said anything particularly out of school here. Kinda disappointing, actually. :)

Re: Mora fired - lex24 - 11-24-2017

He is a major talent. We can be (and we includes me) hard on 19-21 year olds that are in the limelight. And we have (or at least I have) assumed the kid has some character issues. Why else would Stanford have passed on him.  But he’s obviously a bright kid. And he’s no Mansiel or Mayfield.

Potentially he could be an NFL superstar.  Best pocket passer I’ve seen in college since Luck. With perhaps a slightly stronger arm. I would take him over Darnold based on talent. I don’t know enough about the intangibles.

Kelly reportedly no longer a Florida option.

Re: Mora fired - Hurlburt88 - 11-24-2017

Wow . . . feeling like UCLA.  I'll be interested to see if he is as innovative as he was 5-10 years ago.

Re: Mora fired - Goose - 11-24-2017

It wouldn't amaze me if Kelly took none of the above. He is his own man, and at this point in his career he knows that the grass isn't always greener. That said, UCLA may win out yet! :)

Re: Mora fired - Beeg_Dawg - 11-25-2017

Does Kelly really want to return to college football? Latest sound bites indicate UCLA is a definite maybe......

I think he does, but he can afford to be picky about the school and the timing. So he may decide UCLA isn't the right school or the timing is not right.
