RE: Ok, time for next to start (CU game thread) - d4cohn - 11-09-2019

Defense has upped their game against the non-scripted plays for CU.

RE: Ok, time for next to start (CU game thread) - Austroturf - 11-09-2019

Arm punt by Costello.

At least Sanborn had done a fine job stepping in for Toner.

lex24 - lex24 - 11-09-2019

That is pathetic. And so is that. This is a freaking horrible half of football. Just awful

RE: Ok, time for next to start (CU game thread) - d4cohn - 11-09-2019

2nd conversion for CU on 3rd and 14+.

RE: Ok, time for next to start (CU game thread) - cardcoug - 11-09-2019

Pryts should've been flagged for that kick. Not cool.

lex24 - lex24 - 11-09-2019

All I want to see in the second half of this game is something that convinces me that they give a shit. Because they sure aren’t playing this first half like they do. A putrid performance. They should be behind by about three touchdowns.

Perfect end to the half.

RE: Ok, time for next to start (CU game thread) - Austroturf - 11-09-2019

They had a chance to stuff Colorado deep and get a last shot at offense.  Instead, they let Shenault loose and give up three points.  Just disappointing.

I bet Shaw just runs out the clock and goes into the locker rooms.

Perfect end to the half. That’s an hour and a half of my life that I’ll never get back.

They haven’t scored all ***** game you expecting to be a go 80 yards in 36 seconds and one time out. I didn’t have a problem with them give them the ball on first down to Scarlett. The dumb play was a 5 yard pass over the middle to Parkinson which does nothing. I’ll blame Shaw for just about everything in that half-they absolutely stunk. But not for running out the clock. get in the locker room and if there’s ever a time to yell at your team it’s now. Play like you actually give a shit would be the first thing I’d say

RE: Ok, time for next to start (CU game thread) - Austroturf - 11-09-2019

Yup.  Just a miserable first half.  Very little creativity on offense against a really weak defense.

RE: Ok, time for next to start (CU game thread) - JJJ - 11-09-2019

What was the point of those last two plays of the half?

That’s not the Stanford team I was hoping would show up today. We’re better than this.

All true.  But a couple of deep shots with maybe a FG attempt.  Better than nothing.

RE: lex24 - needle - 11-09-2019

KJ isn't right physically and the line can't pass block well enough for the deep ball, which is Stanford's best chance to score. Without Fisk, the run game is likely doomed. And we all know there just isn't enough creativity in the passing plays to get a really good receiver like Wilson open *quickly*, which is necessary given the limitations mentioned earlier.

So we'll see Costello throw these 50-50 balls to Parkinson in the second half and, if we're very very very lucky, see Sanborn kick another couple of field goals. Or these screen plays and horizontal throws that Colorado is clearly sniffing out damn near every time.

Sigh. (Give the Stanford defense credit. They are playing hard. Very limited in some key areas, but playing hard.)

RE: Ok, time for next to start (CU game thread) - d4cohn - 11-09-2019

Was it a great first half? No. But the defense only allowed a FG after the scripted stuff
(granted, they should have gotten off the field on 3rd and 16). The offense was reasonably
effective at moving the ball. There have been a lot worse 1st halves just this year
(UCF, Oregon etc.).

This is a road game in a packed stadium against a team in need of a win to extend
their bowl hopes another week. They weren't going to make this easy, which is why
the idea that "everyone agrees CU [stinks] thread" was absurd.

No problem giving the ball to Scarlett, but I agree that a pass makes no sense.  The probability that a missed tackle or slip opens up the field to a touchdown is about equally low as the probability of a fluke play that results in a pick six.  If you are not running a play designed to score, just take the knee or a run up the gut.

BC

We are 1/5 converting third downs.  Colorado is 5/8, including a couple on third and 10+.

Yup, that’s about on the money.

BC

What the hell was that on the kickoff return.  Good chance it would have gone out of bounds.  Wilson needs to have better awareness of where he is.

Then an unsportsmanlike penalty wipes out a nice Scarlett run.

Wake the f up guys!

Do Wilson, St Brown and Wedington still play?  I mean why would you wanna try to get any of them the ball

RE: Ok, time for next to start (CU game thread) - BostonCard - 11-09-2019

Right on cue, a pass to Wilson!

BC

Might have hit the ground.  Good call not huddling and getting the play off.

BC

Lame hold call, on what would have been a nice screen to Peat.

That wasn't holding.

Oh my god. I’m done guys. I simply can’t handle this anymore. I’m gonna watch LSU Alabama watch some real ***** football. This is pathetic

RE: Ok, time for next to start (CU game thread) - d4cohn - 11-09-2019

That 3rd down run, if you are not going to go for it on 4th,
was pretty conservative. Not helped by a rare Sanborn miss.

Sometimes you pay a price for a cowardly field goal call...
