I tell you what Q. With a month to train I could still throw strikes. Probably at about 60mph. I would refuse to face Duffy.
There are instances where pitchers learned to throw in a hitter’s park. Larry Sherry comes to mind. Was the Dodgers savior in 1959. He kept everything low and away from right handed hitters. Great sinkerball. Had to because the Coliseum LF fence was 250’ down the line. Was the star of the WS, one run in 12 innings and MVP. Mediocre career when they moved to Chavez Ravine.
Don’t count Bum out.

I think you mean hitter's park. Or I missed the implied air quotes (in which case, I stepped right into it).
One potential positive for him is that he'll have a chance to set a career high in HRs. (I figured with his hitting prowess, there was little chance an AL team would be able to sign him).
As for Bumgarner's pitching prospects...while I can see his downward trend continuing, he's still young and competitive enough, that it's very possible that a change of scenery and one or two tweaks might help him bounce back to at least a #2 level pitcher.
Besides, he now gets to face the Giants instead of the DBacks 19 times a year. =/

If he faces SF nineteen times, it will be quite a story. He is more likely to face them five or six times (unless, of course, he is called upon to pinch-hit on his off days)..... ?
