That stat line for the Wednesday game is stunning, and it leaves out the steal that she had. But what really impresses me about her is how aggressive she is in going after the ball on a rebound -- confidence that it belongs to her and it's going to be hers and she's not going to let the opposing player take it away. She just doesn't quit.

Asked in an interview, "what is your best skill," Brink answered, "my mentality."  Something to the effect of a killer instinct.

That mentality shows up in her play -- and not just the killer instinct. She's just plain strong mentally, as well as physically despite the, to me, seemingly too thin body. And aside from the occasional ooops like the one last night, she always seems to  be very aware of what's going on around her, including where both her teammates and opponents are. That's why she gets the rebounds as well as being able to make the assists.

Over her last five games entering yesterday's. Leger-Walker was averaging 23 shot attempts per game.

She got off five.

Anna Wilson for all defensive team.

In the first half, Brink looked like the best player on our team.  Better than Jones.  And better than Lexie who was shooting lights out.  But then she sort of disappeared a bit in the second half.  Both Brink and Jones have the talent and ability to be all time greats at Stanford.  But to reach that level, you have to deliver all game, each and every night.  Best Stanford player to do that in my mind was Chiney Ogwumike.  She knew she had to lead the team each and every night and she did.

I think that Wiggins has to be in the conversation about "deliver all game, each and every night." She, too, was a real leader

To me, the most import stat for Brink last night was zero fouls.  I already knew she could dominate in the post, but her bugaboo was fouling.  Although, last night the refs weren't calling very many fouls overall.

RE: WBB: Stanford 71 WSU 49 and Fri 12 noon - 81alum - 01-28-2021

So what is the theory for why during COVID we are having so many games during working hours?  I will have to miss tomorrow's game, and it is not the first this season, since I have work commitments during that time.

Those time slots would never have been chosen pre-COVID.  Is it that they think without fans in a gym, viewership ceases to be important?

As for Cam, I think the most impressive part of her stat line was the five assists.
There had been mention of Brook's triple double when Ziaire had his, but I don't think I quite realized he was also a frosh. Remarkable.

Sadly Prechtel just isn’t getting into position to rebound or defend the post.  She must get more aggressive.  She has a beautiful shot but at 6-5 just not a wing.

Totally agree, Bob. When the ball goes up, she watches rather than attempting to get in position for rb.

I think Tara wants Ashten to be more aggressive.
But for a 6'5 woman, that does not come easily.

I agree.. the 12:00 time is so inconvenient, but do think it has to do with COVID and trying to air as many games as possible since fans are not able to attend. I’ve just rescheduled a 1:00 meeting so I can at least follow the score..

like you, i assumed at first it was to air as many games as possible...but no!

looking at my sling channel guide for tomorrow, i see oregon women at utah at 2, arizona at sc at 4, arizona at ucla at 6. unless i misread the guide, they are not broadcasting any game at noon (we have only the wsu webcast);  so we are not at noon to accommodate the pac-12 network. looking at the wsu website, they don't have a volleyball or men's basketball game tomorrow, so our game is not early to accommodate another sport in the gym.

no good reason. what's up, bernard?

the schedule's a mess, the tv coverage is a mess. the pac-12 network has a bunch of channels - 4 or 5,  so they can broadcast more than 1 game in a time slot. my memory says they used to do just that. my observation this season is they now have just one game on at a time, playing on all the channels.  and they are not even using all the time slots!

i presume they are using fewer film crews to save money so they can pay the executives more. are they perhaps even using the pandemic as an excuse to have the broadcasters work from a distance and cover more than one game per day?

RE: WBB: Stanford 71 WSU 49 and Fri 12 noon - M T - 01-28-2021

I feel it is quite appropriate for the broadcasters to call the game remotely.. .. ..

After all, that's what Bill Walton does even when he's sitting at midcourt.
I know someone's going to say he doesn't even remotely call the game...

RE: WBB: Stanford 71 WSU 49 and Fri 12 noon - 2006alum - 01-28-2021

I assume the early afternoon games are travel related so that the team can leave and get to the next city the same day. Everything is harder and takes longer with covid protocols.

Hehe. Yeah, he calls the games from outer space no matter where he's sitting!
