RE: WBB: Stanford vs Louisville Elite 8 (Tuesday 6pm) - PVTree - 03-30-2021

They are hot from beyond the line. We need to defend their three pointers better. They are shooting over 50% overall.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs Louisville Elite 8 (Tuesday 6pm) - 81alum - 03-30-2021

We have won so many games by shooting lights-out from three point range, we seem to have forgotten how to win when the treys are not falling.

More concerning is our defense, which is giving Louisville the perimeter looks they want.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs Louisville Elite 8 (Tuesday 6pm) - martyup - 03-30-2021

No way they can keep shooting 71% from 3.  They will cool down and we will heat up.  Keep the faith.

There's Missy on the scorer's table.

I don't think that's the problem.  Turnovers, shots that aren't close, rushed (and missed) layups.  Stanford either has too much adrenaline or they're in panic mode.

We can't score at least sub

RE: WBB: Stanford vs Louisville Elite 8 (Tuesday 6pm) - BostonCard - 03-30-2021

Fifth Brink (probably was a foul).

BC

We have 5 turnovers (as does Louisville).  The big problem is shooting.

Almost as bad as can be..."C-" so far

RE: WBB: Stanford vs Louisville Elite 8 (Tuesday 6pm) - Canalejas - 03-30-2021

So many misses up close too.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs Louisville Elite 8 (Tuesday 6pm) - PVTree - 03-30-2021

Kiana missing layups as badly as can be...not even close.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs Louisville Elite 8 (Tuesday 6pm) - BostonCard - 03-30-2021

We are shooting 28% for the game; Kianna is 1/11.  Louisville is shooting above 50%, and Evans is 4/7 with two threes.

That is the difference.

C- seems generous.

Even Lobo said kiana needed a break
And why is Brink on the perimeter

RE: WBB: Stanford vs Louisville Elite 8 (Tuesday 6pm) - winflop - 03-30-2021

Hate to say it but I think Tara's being out-coached. Louisville has the better scheme at both ends of the floor

RE: WBB: Stanford vs Louisville Elite 8 (Tuesday 6pm) - M T - 03-30-2021

Haley has cost maybe 15 points in the 1st half with offensive & defensive errors.

Here's 9 points on defensive lapses in Q1, plus one TO.
Q1 8:53. Failed to switch or hedge when Anna got screened. 2 pts on a wide open shot.
Q1 6:04. Lopes back. She was only one in position to defend the ball carrier at the FT line. She didn't defend anyone. 2 uncontested FB pts.
Q1 4:25 Stands in the middle of the lane guarding no one as Anna's player gets free on a screen and shoots an uncontested 2 at the edge of the lane.
Q1 3:17 Turnover, trying for a thread-the-needle pass through 4 legs.
Q1 1:02 Her player gets an uncontested 3 because Haley didn't guard her. 3pts

Yep, disasterous first half.

Horrible horrible horrible.  The upside is we can't play any worse.  Hopefully the team calms down, Tara makes her great halftime adjustments and we start hitting shots.  Everything seems rushed.  Can't hit free throws.  Williams missing everything.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs Louisville Elite 8 (Tuesday 6pm) - 81alum - 03-30-2021

Lexie and Brink are the only two players who really are playing at their normal levels.  There seems to be a meltdown of confidence with the rest of the team.  This is EXACTLY what Louisville did to us the last time they knocked us out of the NCAAs.  Sigh.

A 26 point first half is atrocious, of course, but equally bad is giving up 6/10 threes.

We can still salvage this, but we need to come out for a second half that is very different.

Not only are we 1/9 from three point range, but we have probably missed the majority of our layups.  The layups that always used to go in are not going in.  Many shots look desperate.

We need to inject our players with a gargantuan dose of confidence.

The three guards are 2 for 18...you will not win with stats like that.

I mean, sure, we are getting beaten.  But I think this would be about a 4 point game if we hit the shots where we had open looks.
