Brink can't shoot free throws. She's 2-6.
At the half we are down 19-28. Tara is not using two bigs and we are getting out rebounded 18-28. In the first 20 minutes Prechtel and Belibi only have 3 minutes each.
Demetre and Bosgana each with 8 minutes.
In the +/- not one of our players is in the positive.

We have a sizable height advantage over 4/5 of their players. Our defense has been adequate, although they have gotten open for treys off of screens. They are traditionally a very good 3 point shooting team, and they are 4/12 compared to us being 1/8. Their Pinzan is a very experience and expert three point shooter that we need to shut down more than we have.
It does seem to me that the refs are letting a lot go under the baskets, and this may actually favor us more than them.
The difference in this game is that our three point shooting is terrible, we have given up 13 offensive rebounds to them, we are 2/8 in free throw shooting compared to 4/4 for them, and everyone not named Brink is 2/17.

In 16 minutes, Jones has 0 points (0-4), 2 assists, and 1 rebound.
In 17 minutes, Brink only has 2 rebounds. That is why I would like to see either Belibi or Prechtel in there with her.

Looks like we should have been. Didn't get to see most of the first half because of the FloHoops issue, but looks like this one smells of a team that just hasn't woken up yet. South Florida is killing us on the boards - one player (Mununga) has 12 boards and I bet they winning all the 50/50 balls.
Our bench has given us zilch. 0 points in 47 minutes of bench play. Tara will wake them up at half and adjust accordingly. Let's go ladies.

This is reminiscent of how Texas discombobulated our offense. They have a wiley, very experienced coach who no doubt spent a lot of time on the Texas tape. And they spent 4 days getting ready for us, while we probably spent 4 hours getting ready for them.

We have made 1 3-pointers, they have made 4. There's 9 points, which would tie the score. We have made 2 of 8 free throws, they have made 4 of 4. That would give us the lead.

Not beautiful basketball. Kind of ugly.
Locker room at half.

We're currently shooting 66/119 from the charity stripe (including today's attempts) for the season, which at .555 would be the worst % we've ever posted by about 9 percentage points. We're not going to get very far against top teams with those numbers.

I have no doubt Stanford can beat them by 10 in the 2nd half, but it isn't a given. What happened during that stretch where they got so many OR? Long bounces? Layups into the rim?
It would be good to hit some 3 ptrs. I presume Tara already tried two bigs and it didn't work.
I'm surprised Jones has 16 minutes.

It's rare that we get out-hustled for loose balls. But that's what is happening.
Demetre has a nice shot from the elbow.

Let's go Demetre! Looks like a great call by Tara to start her in the second half.

Okay, we cut the lead to 7. Now let's get it together and show these girls how champions play.

Can Demetre save us? At least she is helping us not let the game get entirely away in the 3rd quarter.

Reducing their lead by 3 in 5 minutes is not fast enough.
The coach is like the Texas coach - spends the game in bounds.

And Stanford already has 9 points.. almost as many as they had in each of the first two quarters 9 & 10

Jump is hitting now. We cut the lead to 3.
Okay. We outscored them 17-11 in the 3rd. We enter the 4th down by 3. If we can outscore them by 4 in the 4th, we win. GO CARD!

Jump and Demetre are keeping us in it. Now we need one really good quarter of play.
The South Florida kids are fast and fearless and have been getting some rebounds under the basket that you would not expect. And the 3 point misses often ricochet a long ways, which explains some of their O boardss
