Wording was right, but the number was wrong.  Fixed it for you.

Alex, I'll take "Why I didn't pursue a career as a copy editor for $200" :)))))

RE: Stanford MGolf Thread - winflop - 10-22-2022

Not much movement one way or the other on the team leaderboard. Stanford sits in fourth, six shots back of host Georgia Tech
1. Georgia Tech -21
2. Tennessee -18
3. Pepperdine -17
4. Stanford -15
5. Clemson -14

Vilips recovered from yesterday's round, and Thorbjornsen rallied after opening with a double bogey on his first hole and finished with an eagle on #9 (his 18th).
T5. Thorbjornsen -6
T23. Vilips & Menon -2
T30. Ng -1
T33. Brown E

RE: Stanford MGolf Thread - Spiny_Norman - 10-23-2022

Holy moley! Stanford won the tournament! They made up a very large deficit by going -9 as a team on the back 9 and then watching Pepperdine and Georgia Tech ahead of them stumble on the final 3 holes.

Stanford was again led by Thorbjornsen who birdied 4 of the last 5 holes for a final round 67. He finished 3rd overall. The rest of the team (and it was very much a team effort):
Ng - final round 68, 10th overall
Vilips - final round 72, 20th overall
Brown - final round 73, 32nd overall
Menon - final round 77 (drop score), 41st overall

RE: Stanford MGolf Thread - winflop - 10-23-2022

Awesome rally! Thorbjornsen was our last player on the course so his three birdies on the final 3 holes - along with Barclay Brown's birdie on 18 - made the difference! Georgia Tech & Pepperdine were in the groups behind them so Stanford didn't know they'd won until after those two teams stumbled down the stretch.

Team scores over the final three holes
Stanford -4
Georgia Tech +4
Pepperdine E

On the pro side, Maverick McNealy continues to get close to his first win on tour and is in the top 25 in the early season 2023 standings. Brandon Wu is regularly making cuts but not threatening yet. Patrick Rodgers is in a similar position to Wu, while Joseph Bramlett continues to struggle to make cuts.

McNealy's challenge is that he's pretty good at everything, not great at anything. 48th in driving distance, 92nd in driving accuracy, 131st in greens-in-regulation, 29th in birdies...and 17th in scoring average. This season he's made one Top Ten, three Top 25s, and has made the cut in 3 of 4 events, but he's 22nd in FedExCup standings this year. Last year, he was 58th.

Patrick Rodgers is 59th in FedExCup rank. In 222 career events, he's made 134 cuts, with 3 2nd place finishes, two 3rd place finishes and 17 Top 10 finishes. Brandon Wu is similar, 41 events played, 21 cuts made, one 2nd place, one 3rd place, 5 Top Ten finishes.  82nd in FedExCup rank.

Patrick Rodgers is putting together a final round charge to pick up his first career PGA Tour win.
He is three shots off the lead, putting together by far the best round of the day in Bermuda with a -7
through 13 holes.

Men's golf has signed two recruits for next year's class - Ethan Gao and Kush Arora. Gao in particular looks to be an excellent get for Coach Ray. He's ranked in the top 5 in all three major junior ranking systems. Arora is in the top 25 in two of the three systems.

Kush Arora?  Very unusual name.

RE: Stanford MGolf Thread - BostonCard - 11-19-2022

Patrick Rogers is in a tie for first at the RSM classic.

Agree on the Star Wars name:) Haven't looked him up but sounds  like he is of  Indian origin. Arora is a common Punjabi surname. KUSH or other variants are pretty common first names meaning (Joy or happiness)

Aurora is Sleeping Beauty's name.

Stanford Men's Golf is back in action this week at the Amer Ari Invitational. The boys will be slumming it on the Big Island at Hapuna Golf Course. Lineups haven't been posted yet.

During the offseason, Michael Thorbjornsen is showing once again that he's ready for the PGA Tour. He finished T20 at the DP World Tour's Dubai Desert Classic. He was tied for the lead after the second round.

Currently ranked #6, I'm looking forward to their spring season. Close to home they will host the Goodwin at Harding Park at the end of March and Pac-12s at home in late April

On the PGA side, our alumni are doing well so far this year (dating back to Sept 2022 when this season started):
- Joseph Bramlett has 3 Top 25 finishes in 10 starts and currently sits two shots off the lead at the AT&T @ Pebble Beach
- Brandon Wu has made 7 cuts in 10 starts and currently sits four shots off the lead at Pebble. He was playing this week with Condi as his amateur partner
- Maverick McNealy has 7 Top 25 finishes in 9 starts. He withdrew midway through the third round at Pebble with a shoulder injury. It's only a matter of time before Mav breaks through with his first PGA Tour win
- Patrick Rodgers 4 Top 25 finishes in 10 starts. He is not playing at Pebble

Sihwan Kim has left the PGA Tour and sold out to LIV
