Can we get Luck another year of eligibility? We could use him...

It’s fine to put it in Shaw.  But do it for the failure to recruit on the defensive side of the ball.  You can’t coach around small, unphysical and slow.  It’s impossible.

You can't recruit around it, either. At least not if you're Shaw. I don't even think he knows what he needs anymore. Certainly not in his coaching staff.

It’s all on Shaw because he stood Pat on his staff. Their failures are his failures

Nice offensive drive!

Great play call on the one #86 dropped. Glad we could overcome that and still score.

I agree, except for the three turnovers by our two best players

We need him more on D. McKee doing well.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-10-2022

What failures?  Crisp drive, 300 YARDS OF OFFENSE IN FIRST HALF.
[With Riley and 19 transers, this a bunch of Mercs on offense]
Back in business 14 to 28 with 6m remaining in half.
Play calling all looked good.  McKee throwing well.  EJ Smith looks just fine, if he holds on to the ball.
They have 3 turnovers!  We are still in this.

And U$C third efficiency sucks so far:  0 for 0.  [I kid.]

Amazingly, SC has not "stopped" our offense yet.  Not surprisingly, we haven't stopped theirs either.

Game turning into a nightmare. We were going to have to score almost every time we had the ball to win it, and while we are moving the ball we are also turning it over.

The toughest D that SC’s offense has faced has been in practice

That is probably true (and that doesn't necessarily mean our offense is bad; Riley, Williams and the other players from OU that came to SC are that good).

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - martyup - 09-10-2022

SC hasn't faced a 3rd down yet tonight.  Zero.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - M T - 09-10-2022

Some one from Cal works for Sling advertising.  There was a Sling ad about 6 minutes before the half that used the phrase "the big game" just as a football player runs into a trombone player.

No, I don't think our offense is bad at all.  We have a good offense.  I just think SC's D is making us look better than we really are.

On the other hand, our defense stinks.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-10-2022

Riley is an ace at identifying the weak player matchup and exploiting the hell out of it.
And Caleb Williams can deliver when never pressured.

750 TOTAL YARDS OF OFFENSE in first half by both teams.

So you are saying our 3rd down and 4th down defense is perfect so far?

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - Phogge - 09-10-2022

Might as well onside kick every time.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - martyup - 09-10-2022

First 3rd down for SC.  DEFENSE!!!

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - Phogge - 09-10-2022

Strangely I have a pretty good feeling about the rest of the season, especially on the entertainment value of the offense.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - CompSci87 - 09-10-2022

Held em to a FG. That's something anyway.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-10-2022

Hey -- We get a stop; no third down conversion... held Troyens to just three.
14 to just 38 at outset of Q3
