I am going to say it: the defense may not be great to watch between the 20's, but goal line and when the opposing offense is backed up, the defense has been really good. A terrible no call on TCU's touchdown and a bad QB play not helping the defense, and the defense could be pitching a shutout.

It was a gift, but previous Stanford defenses may have not capitalized.
Coach Taylor has to be thrilled after the expectations we would get dominated in this game and last year's record.
One thing that the DL is doing so well in the red zone that helped contribute to that turnover at least partially, the DL are occupying blockers so well. They are clogging up the middle and forcing the QB to improvise/scramble.

Dykes is going to be pissed in the locker room, and they get the ball to start second half.
TCU knows Hoover can pass at will: Williams, Richardson, that last toss to TE Bech.
Hoover is 18 for 22 and 209 yards. EEESH. We are stopping the run surprisingly, but can't get pressure on QB.
They are going to go wild with Williams now. May need to double team, as others noted. He is NFL talent.
We are only really in this with the two KEY TURNOVERS.

It really pissed me off to see the panel on College Game Day laughing at Stanford and picking TCU to beat us easily. I'm pissed that Shaw ran this once feared program into the ground to the extent that we are picked to finish last in the ACC. THE ACC!!
I hope our players are also pissed. We need them to be angry nerds and start kicking some ass again with intellectual brutality.

And a ton of 15 yard penalties that prolonged our first drive leading to 7. But Stanford of the last three years, being totally frank, wouldn't have capitalized. This team did, and that is a positive so far.
I think with the bend but don't break defense, much as this team as a whole, realistically we have to walk before we can run. Let's end the bowl drought and focus on good rather than expecting great.
