Happy for the guys, particularly Dr Ben who made up for the Hawaii debacle tonite. He found the open guys and they made the catches. Williams and High had great nights.

Stanford will have two weeeks to prepare for SMU, which is not nearly as good as last year (No. 40 in Sagarin ratings). Next week, SMU has to play a decent Syracuse team.
Fla. State next plays Miami and then a Pitt team that's better than its record (2-2). Could they be in meltdown mode On Oct. 18 after a long losing streak?
At Miami...yeah, I got nothin' for that one.

well when Miami's head coach was the head coach at oregon the duckies twice were favored and blew 4th quarter leads which resulted in overtime games in which Stanford won both.

Special thank you to "Coach Ken." On fourth-and-a-yard-at-most, it was an all-time boneheaded call to run out your FG kicker who was one for five on FG attempts before today *and had just missed a 28 yarder*.

Ugly win but a win is a win. There's a lot to dislike but honestly when you don't play well and win it's still a big deal.
We can definitely build on this and see what this team is made of in the next 3 games after the bye week.

I relented and stayed up for the WHOLE game (although I did toggle between our game and CO-BYU).

LOL - me too, thunder_chik (except for the CO-BYU game part) and I'm in western Europe, which I guess means I had the "early to rise" half of the deal covered. As others have said, it wasn't pretty, but still a W and I'm glad I was still awake, kinda sorta :-)

I caught the game on KZSU (before watching the youtube footage). The announcers are alright, but I've been spoiled by years of listening to the best. The last two minutes were right up there with the most dramatic Stanford football I've had the privilege to witness in real time.
If only the team played like this earlier this season; I hope the team plays similarly the rest of the season -- never quit, make plays, support each other. That defense will need support in the first half of the SMU game without Matt Rose.
This is much closer to the Gulbranson I was expecting. He made long throws and hit receivers in stride (!!). Could do without the statuesque pocket sacks.
Roush has got to stop dropping balls. We need him to shine and also continue the TE U reputation.
Not sure what to think about the RBBC going on. It seems to work so long as everyone's egos are shelved for the greater good. I'm a big fan of fresh legs and injury prevention.
