Unfortunately, Hogan's mistakes and shortcomings as a quarterback, as well as the lack of productivity of the running backs are in large part writing the script of the season for Stanford football.

Ugh. 6-6 is looking quite possible. Kudos to Oregon. They gashed our defense and were opportunistic on offense.

This is feeling a bit like my days on campus. FB team has lots of tallent but is missing something. In my day, it was a line and a D. Now, I'm not quite sure what it is. In the end, it's the same result: "how about that volleyball team?"

Worth noting that with about a half a quarter left in the game, Oregon has put up more points than anyone on the prediction thread predicted. This one is not all on the offense.

I fully agree. Our offense was its usual mediocre self. And our defense was terrible. Mariota missed a few wide open throws which left some points off the board.

That's what I was thinking. Oregon got 7 points of off turnovers (IIRC so did we), and our first punt was just before the end of the third quarter. I'm not sure why anyone would think this one was only on the offense. We're not built to come back from 2 scores down, and our defense couldn't stop Oregon at all in the first quarter. We get even one stop there and it's a different game.

Right, but everything cascades. If our offense scores TDs then we're in the game the whole way, but if our defense doesn't give up so many TDs then it doesn't matter. Hogan's two turnovers sure do hurt, but so do all those special teams penalties.
This was a whole team loss. No unit played well. Oregon deserved the win and got it. Good for them, bad for us.
