So the most pessimistic prediction was twice our actual point production. Discounting the 10 points scored on short fields after special teams turnovers, the defense beat the median prediction of around 17 points. I wouldn't say this was a team loss.

It doesn't work that way... When we predict a score, we are predicting asu's score, not how many points out defense gives up. A prediction would take account the possibility of special teams and defensive touchdowns and short fields because of turnovers. So you don't get to discount 10 pts.
Your broader point is correct though. The defense played well enough that a competent offense should have won.

Well, a disappointing result for sure :(
Of course, nobody predicted this debacle, but some are closer than others (everyone had the 5 points deducted).
fullmetal, thunder_chik, and DC all win the week with predictions which were only 19 points off...
In the general standings 82lsju continues strong*, and is followed by Big Brother and CTcard. And peeking curiously into the 4th place, unaccustomed to these lofty heights, we have, gasp, Gauss...
*I had initially made a mistake with 82lsju's score and he had lost his lead because of it! Sorry about that...

For the ASU game in the summary you show my prediction as 24-11, it was actually 24-17 (see the first post in this thread)

Oh, sorry about that! I did get your PMs, but I was, you know, busy trying to find them elementary particles.
It was a very silly mistake with big consequences. You rightfully "regained" your lead as the best predictor of the noble Cardboard, sir :)
