Speaking of Jazz prodigies:

Joey Alexander is a jazz pianist who released his first album (My Favorite Things) when he was 11. Born in Bali, Indonesia this century he taught himself how to play the piano.

I don't know if anyone else is interested in keeping up this thread... but:

Coleman Hell: 2 Heads

"Our love ain't nothing but a monster; our love ain't nothing but a monster with two heads"

I loved the line.  But I really loved the fusion of folk (banjo) and electronica.

I like the new track from Destroyer.  Other tramps like me might as well.

You don't now how tempted I am to shotgun this post with 40 YouTube vids.

But, the truth is, even though I love music, I rarely click on someone else's faves.

A snowy day in the Midwest some 20 years ago ... family time playing a board game with Bob Seger's greatest hits CD playing in the background. The long version of "Like A Rock" comes on and my young daughter turns to me and asks, "Why is Daddy playing the Chevy truck song?"

I fly them all the time since SF is a hub, but I will never forgive United Airlines for tainting Rhapsody in Blue.

Cheers,

OK, then how about this for United's theme song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YGc4zOqozo

Background: The story is (in)famous enough to warrant its own wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Breaks_Guitars)

Quote:Musician Dave Carroll said his guitar was broken while in United Airlines' custody. He alleged that he heard a fellow passenger exclaim that baggage handlers on the tarmac at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport were throwing guitars during a layover on his flight from Halifax Stanfield International Airport to Omaha, Nebraska's Eppley Airfield. He arrived at his destination to discover that his $3,500 Taylor guitar was severely damaged.[1] Fox News questioned Carroll on why he checked the valuable guitar and Carroll explained that it is difficult to bring guitars onto flights as carry-on luggage.[2] In his song, he sang that he "alerted three employees who showed complete indifference towards me" when he raised the matter in Chicago. Carroll filed a claim with United Airlines which informed him that he was ineligible for compensation because he had failed to make the claim within its stipulated "standard 24-hour timeframe".[3]

TOTALLY AGREE. I feel the same way about Walgreens misaappropriation of  CCR's Down on the Corner. Use of great and beloved songs for commercials should get criminalized.

China Beach gets a pass because whenever I hear Reflections I get to think about Dana Delaney.

I wonder if it is time to create a 2016 music thread?  I belatedly found this song:

Hypnotic, by Zella Day, who has been described as a "happier-sounding Lana Del Rey".
