Wow, what a bad day for Cardinal football. I'm so sorry for our guys. I'm sorry for all of the Stanford fans. I just hate Husky fans and I do not look forward to hearing from them about this game, which I know we will for at least 20 years.

Exactly what would you have coach Shaw say after this loss?

I think I might have been happier if I had not come back to watch the second half.Â
I'm trying to remember the last time I saw Stanford lose a game in such an way. I think when Walsh took his first team to U SC in 1977 and we lost 49-0. I'm sure there have been other equally bad losses since then, but the season was going quite well until that game. When things fell apart, they just fell apart. I think James Loften started dropping passes, Gordy King started whiffing on tackles, and all kinds of uncharacteristic mistakes.

Worst performance by a Stanford top ten team in history, brief as that may be.

Look, if we play this way the rest of our games, we'll lose a lot more than we win.
But we're obviously a better team than we are showing tonight.
I bet UW drops two down the stretch. Oregon has beat em 12 in a row and it's at Autzen.
We have to improve in the trenches, clearly. But I think we'll turn this around.
If this is anything close to UW's true performance level, I really doubt they lose again. This is a team that looks like a real contender.

And yet they almost lost to Arizona.
Obviously they had a of exceedingly large proportions game tonight. But they are playing at home against a team that had multiple injuries on a short week. They will probably drop two. Too many Pac teams have offenses that can put up points.
Also, it's hard to have the target on your back every week. Probably will help our guys play loose now that they're behind the 8 ball.

How about "every position is up for competition - no one is safe (perhaps excluding McCaffery) - including coaching"?

I would like to hear him admit the failure is not all on lack of execution by the players. Coaching was not able to adjust, obviously.

That should go without saying, but yeah.
