Sorry Mick none of those you list.
So I goggled and it’s 6 as one had two one of the two post season
So two pitchers last 15 years and two early 50s

Roy Halladay?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - BobK - 09-15-2025

Yes Halladay he had the post season no hitter after a regular season no hitter

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - terry - 09-15-2025

The hint about having a postseason no-hitter narrowed the possibilities quite a bit!

How about Bob Feller?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - Mick - 09-15-2025

Jim Bunning
Don Newcombe
C. C. Sabathia

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - BobK - 09-15-2025

Not Feller not Cc not Bunning not Newcombe

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - BobK - 09-15-2025

One pitcher is still pitching he has won over 200 games
Pitcher in the early 50s part Native American
Other pitcher in the early 50s had a record of 5-19. The next year he won 20 games

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - terry - 09-15-2025

There aren't too many active pitchers with 200 wins. Maybe Max Scherzer?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - BobK - 09-15-2025

Yes Max in 2015

The final answer is Virgil Trucks 5-19 on 1952 with two no hitters

Interesting guy, Trucks. Terrific pitcher, except for 1952, and he went 20-10 the next season. Other than 1952, he was 172-114 for his career. Led the league in shutouts twice, made All Star team both years, had downballot MVP votes in four seasons. He struck out 418 batters (no misprint) in 274 innings in D league when he was 21. Held the minor league record for years, still #3 on the list. Also one of just two pitchers to have won a post-season game without winning a regular season game (came back in 1945 in time for the post-season).

His family is musical. Several of the Allman Brothers Band were relatives of his, he's the uncle of drummer Butch Trucks who helped found the band.

Seven pitchers have led their league in ERA five times or more. Who are they?
