I'm definitely not going to root for DR if he goes to Low APR U. Or the University of Dead Fake Girlfriends.

Sure you can--you just have to root in a really weird, "I hope he catches a difficult pass, jukes and outruns everybody to the 1-yard line, and then gets the ball knocked out of his hands by his own prematurely celebrating teammate resulting in a fumble recovery and touchdown for the other team," manner every time.

Man, the more I read about this kid, the more I like him. Sure hope I can just root for him to score a lot of touchdowns for his own team wearing red & white....

Let's say cardinal and white ;). Alabama's crimson and white would also be covered by the above wording.

Georgia is red & white too

Has admissions ever made an exception for the May deadline?  The only one I remember is Eric Lorig, and that was only for one day, and because there was a misunderstanding between admissions and Lorig that made him think the deadline was later than it was.

Could be worse.... aren't Oregon's colors green and yellow and grey and white and black?  Did I miss any?

I feel like this guy is being paid by all the recruiting sites to keep his decision open until the last possible minute. Would prefer he not wind up playing against us, but at least we can enjoy a few days of watching SEC school fans compare their academics with Berkeley.

Re: The Demetris Robertson saga takes another interesting turn - ColoradoTree - 03-08-2016

Looking for the silver lining of Demetris signing a financial aid agreement with C.al:

* Folks in Berkeley finally have to come to grips with the fact that C.al admissions standards for football players are far looser than Stanford's.  We now have a high-profile example of why their arguments to the contrary are, and have always been, rubbish.

* Given the relative dearth of talent around him at C.al, he'll be less likely to beat us over the next 3-4 years than he would be if he went to N.otre Dame.

* C.al has to swallow the fact that they very clearly are a backup option to Stanford here.  I'm sure they'll come to grips with it, but for some folks, that has to stick in their craw.  (Give the Berkeley spin machine a few years to work, however, and they'll have convinced themselves that Demetris favored C.al all along and it--not Stanford--was always his dream school.)

Setting that aside for a moment, though, he'll have the opportunity to get a better education at C.al than he would at any of his other non-Stanford options (though if he's an engineering-minded kid, and I have no idea about his academic interests, Georgia Tech would certainly quibble with that).  Whether he ultimately gets that education is up to him, given that program's academic history in the Tedford and Dykes eras.  While it's never a happy day when C.al lands a great football recruit, the fact that Demetris is eschewing the SEC for C.al shows that he clearly values academics first.  If this ends up sticking--and it need not, since it's not binding on him until he enrolls--then congratulations to him for making a decision that not many of his fellow 5-star recruits would have made.  Whether he ultimately gets into Stanford or not, our collective admiration for his effort and academic focus was apparently warranted.

One silver lining is it hardly means he is going to Kal. It just preserves the option for him to go there if he ultimately chooses to do so.

When is the last day Stanford will admit for Fall 2016?  Is it after the SAT results are released May 10?

It seems we can safely assume that Robertson wouldn't sign the FAAs with Ca.l and GT if going to prep school for a year (to increase odds of Stanford admission) was an option he is entertaining.  But who knows with this guy.

Apparently he has signed a Grant-in-Aid with Georgia Tech. Folks on Tech sites are saying he says he's interested in civil engineering or architecture.  I'm sure lots of high school kids say they are interested in those majors before finding out how hard they are with football in the mix.

No one at Tech really thinks he will play in Atlanta (other than maybe every other year the Saturday after Thanksgiving).  Five stars never sign with GT. Never.  Megatron was 4 star.

But if he signs with UGA and enrolls in their new engineering program the Board of Regents established for 'those not good enough for Tech,' some sort of futile gesture will be made.

Totally agree.  Very impressive that Stanford students like Kyle Olugbode graduate in architecture.  And Go Bells...

Any updates on Robinson's SAT score?  What is the 'floor' SAT score to trigger a visit to campus.

TIA.
