The second half adjustments have been Shawful.

And indeed the d couldn’t hold.  Another QB victimizing is on a big scramble
Play.

Another 3 and out.

And it's tough to expect the D to hold on repeated ND possessions.

Yeah, wish we would run the ball on favorable downs.  Second and five would have been a good time.

BC

True.

Wisconsin is now officially demolishing Minnesota: 38-10

Not sure why Mills seems to get less effective as the game goes on. But that seems to be the trend.

I mean you are right. But what did you have in mind?

So close to snuffing that drive.  Now down 11.  Yes, Notre Dame is better; but we had our chances.

His receivers haven’t been helping him.

Coverage breakdown on the ND touchdown.

RE: Next starts now: Notre Dame Game Thread - Austroturf - 11-30-2019

Wheels coming off this one.  Parkinson drops a key pass.

RE: Next starts now: Notre Dame Game Thread - BostonCard - 11-30-2019

That was a bs “catch”

Now the wheels are coming off.  Nice stop and we muff the punt.

In a game in which we could not afford to make any mistakes, we have made two big ones that are going to cost us this game.

How does a stadium run out of cups?

RE: Next starts now: Notre Dame Game Thread - SF_Cardinal_Fan - 11-30-2019

I think the key play of this game was late Q2 when Mills scramble came up 1 yard short of the first down. Following that play the Stanford punt was blocked and all of Stanford's great 1st half momentum disappeared.
Had Stanford sustained that late 2Q drive they might have been ahead by 10, 13, or 17 points (instead of being down at halftime).

RE: Next starts now: Notre Dame Game Thread - Phogge - 11-30-2019

Lance never brings enough pressure.

No misdirection, no movement. Nothing new. It took a quarter and a half and then the Domers figured it out.

God they can’t tackle in the second half. This is a physically weak football team.

RE: Next starts now: Notre Dame Game Thread - BostonCard - 11-30-2019

For what it’s worth on the third down play, we showed blitz but dropped eight into coverage.  Swann still got a piece of it (the receiver was still well covered), so all in all a successful stop that kept this a two-score game.

But between plays like that, there have been too many breakdowns, so your point is well taken.

Correct.  Two TDs down.  Not hopeless yet, but looking more and more out of hand.

RE: Next starts now: Notre Dame Game Thread - BostonCard - 11-30-2019

Fair critique of that series.

First down, nice slant play to Wilson, gets us nine. Second down, I liked the idea of a run, but a draw is better on a clear passing play. This was a running down, so Notre Dane wasn’t fooled. Third down we line up for a run and don’t get any sort of push. To add injury to insult, #75 gets injured.

RE: Next starts now: Notre Dame Game Thread - Phogge - 11-30-2019

They can’t run but he keeps trying to on short yardage. Just unimaginative to a very high degree. David.... YOU CAN’T RUN and we all know it. Are you so stubborn that you have fooled yourself?

They just surrendered.

RE: Next starts now: Notre Dame Game Thread - BostonCard - 11-30-2019

TC, we’ve run 22 times and passed 41. Subtract a couple of Mills scrambles and a sack and it’s more than 2:1 pass to run.

BC

Also, Scarlett has a few nice conversions on third and short earlier in the game.

BC

*sigh* missed tackles.

RE: Next starts now: Notre Dame Game Thread - Austroturf - 11-30-2019

Dreadful tackling.  Just dreadful.

On that last run by Jones, there were probably 7 or 8 defenders on him, and his just kept running.

RE: Next starts now: Notre Dame Game Thread - Phogge - 11-30-2019

18 simply can’t tackle.
