1968: Bob Beamon's leap in Mexico City.
1973: Secretariat's 31-length Belmont win for the Triple Crown. People watching on the rail wept.
1975: The Thrilla In Manila. "We arrived as young athletes, and left as old men."
2000: Tiger's 2000 win at Pebble Beach.
2017: Alex Honnold's free solo of El Capitan.
The other achievement that made my head shake in wonder was Michael Carter's 81-3 foot put of the high school shot in the 1979 Golden West.
Great list, Hulk!

Maybe thinking of this because of Curry's 62 tonight, but I have never seen a player in the NBA as hot as Klay Thompson in his 37 point quarter without missing a shot, hitting 9/9 on three pointers. Maybe someday someone breaks the record, but don't think it will ever be equaled on perfect shooting like that. Wasn't in the arena but watching live on TV was still unreal.

How about Hasek pretty much single handedly winning the 98 Olympics? To me he is 1a/1b with Gretzky for the greatest Hockey player of all time

The best in-person sports moment for me was George Brett hitting a walk-off HR off of Luis Tiant in July 1975. The first MLB game I ever attended.

The best sports movie lines:
Malkovich: "Ronnie, don't fall off."
Brimley: "You're better than anybody I ever had and you're the best Goddam hitter I ever saw"
Hackman: "I love you guys."
Newman: "Fat man, You shoot a great game of pool."
Russell: "Great moments are born from great opportunity."
Hanks: "There is no crying! There's no crying in baseball."

Since we are moving to the main part of the college hoops season, my views on amazing athletic feats, College Basketball edition.
Texas Western over Kentucky for the 1966 national championship
Villanova over Georgetown for the 1985 national championship. Nova shot 79% from the field! They had to play near perfect to win and they did.
NC State's run through the 1983 tournament. Just incredible how they found a way to win so many close games in the tournament. I loved the Houston team that they beat to win it all. But you have to give props to the Wolfpack and Jim Valvano. Don't give up, don't ever give up.
Butler making the national championship game back-to-back in 2010 and 2011.
Virginia going from losing to a 16 seed in 2018 to winning it all in 2019. They won the regional final in OT, the semifinal on 3 FTs with 1.5 seconds to play and then the final in OT.
Arike Ogunbowale making game winning buzzer beaters in the semifinals and final when ND won the women's national championship in 2018. It's every kid's dream and she got to live it twice.
I could probably think of another 25 college basketball achievements that are just as amazing. It's why I love college hoops.

Well, Walton going 21-22 was impressive. And of course, there was Laettner’s perfect game. against
