That is the difference.
C- seems generous.

The three guards are 2 for 18...you will not win with stats like that.
It's like even when things go our way, say Belibi offensive rebound, we manage to miss the layup or tip it out of bounds. This team is so much better than how they are currently playing.

This is what I was worried about; we were shooting so well over the last few games, especially from long range, that it masked our dependence on the three.
I feel like, our confidence and execution on both ends are tied to our 3-point shooting. We looked like world beaters in the Pac-12 tournament and in the first three rounds because we started off hot and the shots kept coming.
Louisville's defense has been better than the teams we've faced over the last 3-4 weeks and prevented us from getting off to a good start.
The question is, can we adapt? We've had some stinkers of a game this season, so this should not be an alien concept to us. We've seen other teams rally. We need to step up and do so.
Secondly, the little mistakes, that I keep pointing out, even in easy wins, may seem excessive. But as seen in the Colorado and UCLA losses, if you don't nip careless mistakes, even in games where the contest is decided, they can become habits and cost you in situations that do matter.

Add in the turnovers, and that sums it up.

Even if Tara rights the ship for the 2H, we should be concerned with the way the team (outside of Brink and Lexie) is handling the pressure. Soft passes, weak defense going under screens and missing defensive assignments, and the inability to exploit our size advantage. When you have Belibi setting screens from the elbow/being guarded by a 5’7 player instead of muscling in the paint, then there’s a problem. We’re flat out getting exposed tonight. Fortunately there’s 20 mins to adjust. Unfortunately SoCarolina and (most likely) UConn are also physical AND much better teams than Louisville.

Not sure who you are counting as guards, but Wilson is 0/1, Williams is 1/11, and Lexie Hull is 3/6 which puts us at 4/18. Still atrocious, but not 2/18 (unless you consider Jones as a guard and Hull as a forward).

We need Williams to get back on track. Almost all of her shots have been open. She just seems so tight right now. If she gets it going in the second half, I think the rest of the team will join her.
Our post defense has been great. But it seems like because our offense is so inept, our perimeter defense has just disappeared.

Yeah, there post players are 1/5; their guards are 15/26.

To get back in this game we need stops. Louisville is hot with the mid range jumper. Somehow we need to switch things up to disrupt those jumpers. Usually we welcome other teams to take these low percentage shots.
That and watching a couple of our own jumpers swoosh would get us back into the game. We have to start hitting, and they have to stop hitting. That simple.

And why is Brink on the perimeter
Playing a bit hurt? Remember, she went out at the end of the first quarter.
BC
Well, she put it on the floor and drew a foul, so hopefully she is better. Defense is playing better, but Wiliams still can't hit anything.
BC
Would help if she made some of her free throws. She's now 1/5, missing all three of her "and one's".
BC
Monkey is off Williams' back, I hope.
BC
That's much better! 8-0 run brings it down to a 4 point deficit. Haley Jones with two buckets and a nice assist to Prechtel.

If I hold by breath to the end of the game, will I pass out?
Still only 1 trey, but we have been getting to the rim and converting. Most important, Louisville is not hitting every shot, we are getting some stops.

There’s that Tara magic finally showing up! Monster block by Haley, Lexie is TOUGH, and Kiana shaking off the nerves, pressure, etc. This is the kind of performance we need for 40 mins moving forward!
