Looking at both Oregon State and Southern Cal as being utterly decimated by outgoing transfers and graduation.
What's left with both teams that will heavily rely on the transfer portal:
Oregon State:
***********
VON OELHOFFEN, Talia - 5'11/PG
COROSDALE, Taya - 6'3/F
MAROTTE, AJ - 6'0/G
MITROVIC, Jelena - 6'9/C
MANNEN, Noelle - 5'6/G
Incoming Freshmen:
GARDINER, Timea - 6'3/F
BEERS, Raegan - 6'3/C
Southern Cal:
***********
MARSHALL, Rayah - 6'5/F
MIURA, Alyson - 5'9/G
AKUNWAFO, Clarice - 6'6/C
PERKINS, Bella - 5'9/G
CAMPBELL, Madison - 5'9/G
OTTO, India - 5'6/G
Incoming Freshmen:
GAYLES, Aaliyah - 5/9/PG
On the other hand, I think something BIG is brewing at UCLA. A few pundits are of the opinion that, on top of their #1 recruiting class for 2022, the influence of 2022 #2 5'11 PG Kiki RICE will trickle down to the Class of 2023, with 2023 #2 6'0 FG Juju WATKINS and #4 6'4 C Breya CUNNINGHAM most likely to join #20 5'6 PG Jada WILLIAMS at Westwood.
2022-2023 UCLA Current Roster:
**************************
OSBORNE, Charisma - 5'9/G
ONU, Dominique - 5'9/G
DUGALIC, Angela - 6'4/F
ANSTEY, Izzy - 6'4/F
BESSOIR, Emily - 6'4/F
BROWN, Camryn - 5'11/G
Incoming Freshmen:
RICE, Kiki - 5'11/PG
JAQUEZ, Gabriela - 6'0/F
JONES, Londynn - 5'5/PG
IWUALA, Christeen - 6'3/C

Remember that the transfer portal works both ways, so those teams will be able to entice some transfers in as well and won’t be quite as short-handed.

OSU’s Taya Corosdale entered the portal today. Only four returning as of now. OSU adding 2022 SG’s Adlee Blacklock (6’0”) and Lily Hansford (6’2”) in addition to Gardiner and Beers. Coach Rueck and staff will have to expand the roster via the portal. Same for USC’s Gottlieb and her staff.

Wow this is odd given she didn’t participate in Sr day. Jenna Brown in the portal as a Grad Transfer
So we have an opening
Corosdale from Oregon State pure rumor

surprising indeed. i wonder if that coincides with our interest in another player.
corosdale is a fine player but at 6'3" imo would not fill a position of need.

Corosdale would not agree but a rumor that she could be going to Stanford grad school

Interesting. Don't know what to think about Brown. I was never that impressed with her game when she played, and after multiple seasons out, she feels like a very speculative bet. But glad she got her degree and she really seemed to enjoy her time with the team, so here's hoping she finds some green pastures and has a swan song as good as Maya Dodson's at Notre Dame.
Corosdale is interesting. She is a jack of all trades who can do it all - shoot, dish, rebound, block, steal. In that sense, I think she'd work well in our Princeton motion offense. If her three point shot were a bit better, she could in theory play the three and sit near corner, with Jones as a two up top, plus Brink and Belibi. But agree that what we really need are fast guards who can play Hull-like D.

Interesting BobK. I can't find any public info about Brown in the portal. What is your source?

Oh nice. Too bad she never got a chance to show Stanford what she could do. Wishing her the best. Great for Stanford to have another open spot now. I think they are focused too much on a PG. The losses of the Hulls and Anna leave a serious void on the wing. Unless there is a difference maker at PG, I would just use the spot for best available player (except if a post because that is already a big issue as far as over recruiting.

Interesting. Given that she was not practicing fully for a long time (based on photos of various practices and that she never warmed up for games, unlike Harriel, who also did not play this past season), how healthy is she going to be? I wish her well. I'm not sure this makes much difference for the team next season given her past injuries. Still, if she is able to play would have been nice to have her around. I guess now we have an open spot.

Brown is listed as being in the portal on Raoul's blog wbbblog.com
Corosdale would just be one more post we don't have room for. She has improved a lot during her time at OreSt. but she still isn't good enough to compete with the posts we have for playing time. Hope we can find a guard with the academic qualification.

How about NICOLE CARDAÑO-HILLARY using her covid year at Stanford? She was a grad student at Indiana, but I think she could play one more season. She would solve our PG problem.

I know nothing about her academic performance but Ashley Owusu would fill big need for Stanford.

I'd be up for Cardano Hillary but as far as I know she's not in the portal. I don't think Owusu could qualify academically. That's always the sticking point. There's also Maxwell and Gylten from Utah.

Maxwell is transferring out?? She shot 38% from 3 this past season. Stanford could really use additional reliable 3 point shooters. The Hulls and Wilson were 2nd, 3rd and 4th on the team in 3 pointers.

Stanford is far more likely to be able to receive graduate transfers than undergraduate transfers. There are numerous MA programs at Stanford that are far less selective than the undergraduate program, not to mention that Stanford has a strict and very low number of transfer slots open for the undergraduate class as a whole. Brooke Smith was exceptional as I understand it since I believe she had been accepted by Stanford before going to Duke, then transferred after a year at Duke. I'm trying to remember any other WBB player who transferred in as an undergraduate.
Tara also feels a responsibility to use her 15 scholarships and not hold them in reserve. I can't remember a verbatim quote, but at one point she noted that it wasn't right to deprive a kid of a chance for a Stanford education as part of a strategic basketball decision. That is, after all, why we often have a number of players on the team who almost never reach the floor. They contribute in practice and they receive a degree. Not a bad work-study program.
The fact that an extra scholarship just opened up does create some possibilities, though.

Might one of the possibilities be Lacie Hull coming back?
