Don't let all the other news distract you from a new commitment - Chico Holt, an incoming frosh TE from Northwestern!

There's also a new walk-on sophomore walk-on LS from Northwestern, Peyton Warford.

Added to grid.

RE: 2023 Stanford Football Personnel - Langdude - 08-29-2023

First depth chart!

I made several changes to the grid.

1) Starters. With all the "or" demarcations on the depth chart, it's hard to know who the actual starters will be. So I just marked the first name listed on the depth chart. Hopefully things will get clearer.

2) Removals. I finally removed SR WO C Max Kalny and SO WO DL Kaz Melzer from the grid; both have retired.

3) Grid Positioning Decisions. On the official roster, FR WOs Adam Rourke and Camus Rooney are both still listed strangely as "defensive backs," while all other defensive backs are assigned as either cornerbacks or safeties. This could be because the coaches have not yet decided which position these two will play, but I think it is more likely that the official roster is still in disarray. It's pretty messy. For instance, for a while, FR RB Sedrick Irvin was listed as a wide receiver, but now he is back listed at running back. In addition, FR WO QB Brayden Hagle is listed as a wide receiver; this would be a pretty drastic position switch, so I left him at quarterback in the grid pending confirmation. And there are two instances where apparent position switches are not reflected on the official roster: JR Austin Uke is listed as a defensive lineman on the roster but is then listed on the depth chart as an offensive guard, and 5th YR TR Spencer Lytle is listed as an inside linebacker on the roster but is on the depth chart as an "edge" (outside linebacker); for now, I have put them in the grid as guard and outside linebacker, respectively, as reflected in the depth chart.

4) Position Changes. In addition to Uke and Lytle, I have made several position switches in the grid to reflect what the official roster claims. FR Tre Wiliiams goes from inside linebacker to outside linebacker. JR Jaden Slocumb goes from safety to cornerback. SR WO Kiersten Lee goes from outside linebacker to inside linebacker. And, in a more dramatic switch, JR WO Kale Lucas goes from wide receiver to safety. I also made some position switches in the grid to reflect depth chart claims on the offensive line. It is tough to tell if offensive linemen are positioned at tackle, guard, or center because all are simply listed as "offensive line"; I am sure that this allows for position switches, but it is sort of annoying as I am sure they are practicing with a position group. As those who have played offensive line will tell you, the positions are not easily interchangeable. At any rate, SO Jake Maikkula has moved from tackle to guard, JR TR Trevor Mayberry is officially playing guard, SR Levi Rogers has officially moved from guard to center.

Please feel free to offer any insights. Some of you watch practices or talk to coaches, so would have information that would correct me.

Great work Langdude appreciate it!
We'll soon see whether Coach TT & Co have been able to work any magic cobbling together this mishmash and potpourri of players into any semblance of a team.
Go Card!

Bench Bunch. The following non-injured non-frosh scholarship players did not appear against the University of Hawaii. I realize some of these may be injury-related; if so, please do let me know and I will switch the designation.
Note: While not indicated in the official game report, DL [*]Pat Caughey, so., did play (h/t SMC).

RE: 2023 Stanford Football Personnel - SamuelMcF - 09-04-2023

I didn't watch STs very closely so can't tell about others, but can tell you Caughey played a few DL snaps in garbage time.

RE: 2023 Stanford Football Personnel - Langdude - 09-08-2023

Starters listed in SID weekly notes for SC game are same as last week. Leyrer listed as backup, so perhaps he is no longer injured. Interesting that, though Wyrick and Gilman are listed as starters, Edwards and Gilman started last week with Slocumb at NB; perhaps Wyrick is safety in standard defense and Edwards in nickel.

They also started with two WR and two TE (Roush) set last week.

Walk-On Union Watch. Four non-scholarship players got PT against the Trojans. No statistics were recorded in the game unless noted.
  • C Logan Berzins, sr., played in his second game. Not sure if it was lining up on XP/FG or on offense.
  • WR Jason Thompson, so., played in his second game, probably on ST.
  • LS Peyton Warford, so., played in his second game, and had a tackle. So interesting. Either he was the LS on punt and got the tackle, or they are playing him as a straight-up tackler on KO. He did play DL at Northwestern.
  • P Aiden Flintoff, fr., made his collegiate debut. Congratulations! He punted twice in the second half of the blowout. He had a great game, with one immense 50-yarder (the one returned for a TD but called back for holding), and one for 36.5 yards, a pooch-punt downed at the 15.
In addition...
  • ILB Spencer Jorgensen, a 5th year former walk-on, had two tackles.

  • S Che Ojarikre also made his collegiate debut.

RE: 2023 Stanford Football Personnel - Langdude - 09-15-2023

Thanks, Jamesy. Updated.

I also made one update amongst starters: Leyrer now listed at RT rather than McLaughlin. This is a bit of a surprise to me given that McLaughlin got playing time all last season when Pogorelc did not. Perhaps the latter was injured.

They rotated. McLaughlin was clearly better.

Hawkins didn't travel last week but is dressing this week. Not sure if injury or something else.

Aaron Armitage is a DE. The roster still says Austin Uke is a defensive lineman, so how trustworthy is it really?

Thanks, Sam. I appreciate this. I'll change Armitage, and happy to correct any other inaccuracies you see.

Yeah; the roster is really unreliable. Game reports not much better.

Mods:

For some reason, the maximum character count has drastically decreased. I cannot make any changes to the grid. I get the following error message:

"There was an error editing your reply: The message is too long. Please enter a message shorter than 5000 characters (currently 7324)."

Help?

I've bumped it up to 10,000. I don't know the history of who, when, or why it was changed, or what it was prior to being 5,000. So I hope I haven't brought back some problem that reducing it to 5,000 was meant to fix.

  • C Logan Berzins, sr., played in his fifth game. For the second week in a row, he started the game on the offensive line. Last season, he ended the year as the starter at center. He's clearly doing something right, though the offensive line this season has a low bar.
  • P Aiden Flintoff, fr. played in his third game, punting once for 47 yards. He's got a powerful leg! He's clearly part of our kicking game now, rotating regularly with Connor Weselman.
  • LS Peyton Warford, so., played in his fifth game.
  • WR David Kasemervisz, jr., played in his second game.
  • WR Jason Thompson, so., played in his third game.
  • DL Zephron Lester, sr., played in his first game of the season, and just the second game of his career. As a walk-on, you gotta love this guy's perseverance.
In addition...
  • ILB Spencer Jorgensen, a 5th year former walk-on, had a solid game with six tackles, including a TFL. He's played in every game this season.

Frosh Force. Five true freshmen played against the University of Oregon. None recorded any statistics unless noted.
  • CB Jshawn Frausto-Ramos played in his fifth game. Shirt burned
  • WR Tiger Bachmeier played in his fifth game. He actually started and had a catch for a couple of yards. Shirt burned
  • S Che Ojarikre played in his fourth game.
  • P Aiden Flintoff, a walk-on, played in his third game (see above).
  • RB Sedrick Irvin played in his fourth game. He started and carried the ball four times for an unfortunate two yards. My guess is that he is a good pass protector.

Bench Bunch. The following non-injured non-frosh scholarship players did not appear against the Quacks. I realize some of these may be injury-related; if so, please do let me know and I will switch the designation.
