Re: Update on Director's Cup -
82 Card - 06-14-2013
Men's golf became a tie for 38th because of a two way tie for 6th in Baton Rouge regional. There must have been a tie for 7th somewhere. Otherwise it would be a 5 way tie for 34 points.Â
They rounded the second decimal place up so that .25 became .3 and .75 became .8. Not sure how the average of 80 and 85 becomes 83, but they seem to do that consistently, rounding up Stanford's women's soccer and Florida's women's tennis.

It is interesting that they write
Quote:In the closest race to date, Stanford captured its 19th straight title with 1261.25 total points, just 41.50 points ahead of second place Florida.
If they had indicated, say, "just 16.50 points ahead of the anticipated score for second place Florida.", the sentence would have been more accurate. In 1983-1984, Stanford finished within 20 points of North Carolina (806.5-786.5), which is closer than the 41.50 points difference mentioned. Indeed, that year, the top 4 teams were within 40 points. (I presume the scoring has changed since the winning totals were much less.)
Also, while the SEC got 3 in the top 10 to the PAC-12's two, more than half (7) of the PAC-12 are in the top 20. The PAC-12 is clearly the leading conference.

We’re NOT number 1, at least according to CBS sports (by their criteria, Michigan is #1 and Stanford is #22)

I suggest not advertising this B.S. and removing the link to it.

Of course, it’s BS. Just pointing out the absurdity.
