Everyone had a part in the collapse - Steph made an poor pass to allow the turnover and winning basket, Chris Paul and Klay played poor defense, no one shot well and they generally acted like the game was over with 10 minutes before it really was.
The Warriors can't stand pat at the trade deadline if they don't want this season to end when the regular season does. I know the big 3 want to go out together but no one other than Curry should be untouchable.
There was a time that the Warriors were so good that they didn't have to pay attention to fundamentals...witness their ongoing lack of concern over turnovers. Well now they're not the athletes they once were, and they've started to slip. Defense isn't as tight, passes aren't as crisp, focus gets lost on certain plays. Of the five who were largely present on the recent NBA finals teams (Curry, Wiggins, Thompson, Green and Looney), only Curry still plays at a consistent high level. Thompson and Wiggins are hit and miss. They're still strong, just not as strong, and their supporting cast is good, just not as good as they once were. Paul is good, not great. At least his shoot is coming around, but none of them defend as well as they used to.
And frankly...I wonder about Kerr. As he continues to commit to the Old Guard, he starves playing time for the young ones. As Bill Walsh used to say, better to lose a player a year early than a year late. Well, it's too late for Thompson, Green, Looney and Wiggins...at their salary range, they're untradeable, at least not for value. Even though Thompson and Paul are on expiring contracts, Looney is affordable and Wiggins has a moderate (by NBA standards) contract, I don't see any of them returning a first round pick or front line starter. Maybe a solid younger player...maybe. Based upon their 16-18 record, I would recommend that Dunleavy start initiating and listening to trade offers. They have a solid younger core that they need to build around. The only trade rumors I hear are about Kuminga, one of two athletic players on that time. The team is built like Kerr...a highly skilled team with limited athleticism. Almost all of their players fit that mold.
I have to agree - get hopping on working whatever trade(s) we can get, subito - the Dubs currently have no picks in the 2024 draft so time is of the essence.
Play Kuminga 35 minutes a night until Draymond comes back, let him boost his averages, trade him for a 1st round pick. Trade Green and Thompson with Kuminga to Detroit for
their first round pick and whatever else they're willing to send. Their team is so young, they could really use Green and Thompson and Kuminga.

Dray and Klay are untradeable (for anything positive) because of their salaries and Dray's conduct issues. The Warriors is paying them for services rendered over the course of the last decade and no other team has an incentive to do that. If I ran the Warriors' front office, I would be all for trading those guys on halfway decent terms, but I don't think such trade offers will be forthcoming. The Warriors are who they are and they do have enough talent to make the playoffs if things go reasonably well. I don't see this as a terrible team, but I do see it as a team that faces the curse of being a lower tier playoff team until it rips off the band aid and tries to rebuild.

I think if you package the two of them with Kuminga (and maybe Moody) and send them to a young team that is in desperate need of maturity...like the Detroit Pistons...it might work. The Pistons have an average age of 23.6, they're the third youngest team in the NBA. Some old hands like Draymond and Klay can assist them. Throw in Looney.
Interestingly, the youngest (OKC Thunder) is 23-10. Maybe the Spurs want them, they're 5-29. Heck, go to any of the teams that are upside down. There are six teams with 11 or fewer wins.

Warriors beat a 3-32 Pistons team by 4 pts., 113-109. Very hard to watch.

The Warriors have played a league-high 27 games that have been within five points in the final five minutes. They are 13-14 in those games. The Nuggets have played 19 such games, the fifth most in the league. They are 13-6.
The Warriors need to do something. How about Wiggins, Looney and Moody for Pascal Siakam? It's revenue neutral, gives the Warriors an active big, and gives the Raptors two very strong players at decent salaries. Win-win...

Yes, thanks for the catch, fixed it. They'd actually have to trade Moody, Wiggins and Kevon Looney for Siakam (he's a PF/C) to get the salaries close. I'd do it...
Incidentally, the Warriors are playing the Raptors tonight. Early going, but the W's had four turnovers in the first 4:22. Not very impressive.

Another Wizard (bullet) dodged. Former Warrior Ryan Rollins, who had been making progress as a defender, has been accused of repeatedly shoplifting from Target.

Here's an article ranking the nine most selfish players in NBA history. Jordan Poole made the list as
the most selfish. Two others (Wilt Chamberlain and Gilbert Arenas) got their start with the Warriors. Must be something in the water here.

You're right, old news. Bucks are dealing him to the Kings, they're going to release him. Saves money against the luxury tax.

Draymond Green’s career, as depicted in art:

The guy is amazing; he apparently pulls the artwork from memory. Like, “this scene of Dreymond Greene stomping on a guy reminds me of The Massacre of the Innocents, by Nicolas Poussin, 1625-32”

The Warriors are healthy and have looked okay, if not great, of late. The game against the Lakers on 4/9 looms large as it’ll probably determine home court for the first play-in game (since the tie breaker likely will depend on the outcome). I’ll be rooting for purple and gold.

This team had the talent, but self-destructed. Draymond couldn't control his temper, Wiggins went back to not caring after getting paid, etc.
It'll be interesting to see what lineup the team puts on the floor next year. I don't think they can just come back with the same team they put on the floor this year and expect a substantially different result. Sure, Kuminga is on the rise, but the core players are only going to decline with age.
The team doesn't have a first round pick this year (absent winning the lottery), so free agency and trades will have to suffice. The team does have plenty of future draft picks as trade bait, however, if it wants to mortgage the future a bit to help the core make another run.
Maybe I'm overly sentimental, but I sort of think Klay will come back on a reasonably priced contract to finish out his career with Steph and Draymond. I also think Gary Payton is a pretty good fit for what the team is trying to accomplish, so I could see him returning.
But I don't think Chris Paul wants to close his career on a team that doesn't appear to be a contender. I'm not sure how the salary cap rules work when trading a player with a player option (like CP has), but assuming it's viable to trade CP's contract under the rules, then doing so appears to me to be the best opportunity to improve the lineup.
As a Lakers fan, I wonder whether there's a plausible trade involving CP and D-Lo because I think the Lakers need the ball handling and defense. I'm not sure about this from the Warriors' perspective though. With Klay in the sunset of his career, it would be nice for Steph to have another truly legit scorer on the first team, but I can't recall whether the relationship with D-Lo from his last run on the Warriors precludes bringing him back. Any thoughts on this?

D-Lo was awful when he was with the Warriors. Didn't seem to want to play in Kerr's system. Of course things could be different with the core players back and better young talent than in that lost year, but I'm not enthusiastic.
