BC, What year did you graduate from Del Oro? Small world as I went to Placer HS (class of '82) and we used to be strong rivals in the Sierra Foothill League. Did you play football, basketball or baseball? There weren't too many kids from our area at Stanford back then.

El Camino class of 61 sent two FB players to Stanford

Bob,
Were you from El Camino HS in Sacramento? My mom was the homecoming queen there! Maybe class of '61 or '62! Eagles, right?Â

David Shaw & Co. only have 11 commitments in '17. But an absurd four of those are five-star recruits, including the No. 1 overall player.

Seems like a kid with good size from a good program who could be a contributor. I doubt if he is going to beat out Smith and Parkinson, but perhaps on defense.

Don't forget about Scooter Harrington. He was a Top 20 TE recruit in 2016.

According to 247sports, Ryan Johnson is visiting Auburn this weekend. The 247 crystal ball is still predicting 86% Auburn, 14% Alabama, and he still has remaining visits with Texas (Jan. 26) and Alabama (Jan. 28).
In a search for positive tea leaves, in the last couple of days RJ did retweet Kyle McCombs' commitment tweet and Diron Reynolds' tweet re: Solomon Thomas winning the Morris Trophy.
On the other hand, it's going to be tough to convince the Class 5A Lineman of the Year from Alabama to spurn Auburn and Alabama for Stanford. Besides offers from most of the SEC, RJ also has offers from top programs in the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, N.otre D.ame, and U.SC, so it's a testament to Stanford's national brand that we are in his, apparently, top 4. (To my knowledge, RJ has only announced a top 6, but I don't think N.otre D.ame and Oregon are still in the running).
Given the late dates of his official visits, I'm guessing that RJ will announce on national signing day. However, all of the above was gleaned from publicly available free websites, so I would be happy to hear any additional rumors, insights or hunches from other folks on The CARDboard.

Our odds are much, much better than what the 247 crystal ball currently indicates.

It's hard to get worse than 0%. If he commits to us he will have been so stealthy that he should forget about Stanford and football and directly join the CIA (or the FSB, depending on his political inclinations).

Here's the highlights of the game. Doesn't look like anyone really tore it up offensively, although I guess that's to be expected in a game of this nature.

Well, I guess it was a defensive struggle.
Team Stanley
Leading rusher: Wedington 14-47
Leading passer: McCaffrey 2-9-0-10
Leading receiver: Wedington 1-9
Team Mariota
Leading rusher: Yuen 2-9 (Lund 3-8)
Leading passer: Yuen 10-26-2125
Leading receiver: Webb 4-45
Team Stanley won 9-7. Team Mariota missed a 46-yard field goal attempt as time expired.
