I rank the Shaw teams thusly:

2013
2011
*gap*
2012/15
*big gap*
2014

So I suppose we completely disagree!

Clearly.

I'd rank the Shaw teams as:

Inherent Ability                Accomplishment/Resume
      2011                                        2012
      2015                                        2015 (but incomplete)
      2013                                        2013
      2012                                        2011
      2014                                        2014
[/quote]

This is an interesting way to put it, because it's not clear to me why the 2014 team is so clearly last in "inherent ability". The defense was probably the best we've fielded, and the offense had mostly the same pieces as the previous year, so what gives? Still a mystery.

Anyway, I agree with your rankings. WiM is a lot higher on the 2013 team than either of us. For my part I think it's because in modern football it's more important to have an elite offense than an elite defense. 2013's offense was too easy to stop, you just had to take away the run (admittedly easier said than done, but it was done three times). The defense wasn't infallible, so once the offense is floundering the opponent has plenty of chances. On the other hand, this team has been able to score in bunches on anyone once we figured it out, that just took 6 quarters. (Does anyone anywhere outside of Evanston think if we played Northwestern tomorrow the outcome would be the same?) Sure, this defense isn't great, but they're capable of doing just enough, and I think they're getting close to putting it together and taking the play up a few notches.

We'll see, the book isn't written on this team quite yet.
