Florida has really imploded offensively, hitting -.375 to start Set #4. Stanford lead 12-6.

Stanford hit .345 in Set #4, after hitting .452 in Set #3. In a set to 15, Stanford is going have to avoid service errors at all costs. Yes, aggressive serving is hindering Florida's offense, but 11 free points is too many.

Gator defense is dominating the Stanford attack in Set #5. Stanford hitting sub .100 at most inopportune time.

Back to Back attacking errors by Florida have cut the deficit to 11-9. Pending challenge.

Great defense beat the better offensive team unfortunately for the Cardinal. -.040 hitting percentage isn't going to get it done in the fifth set. Florida did almost nothing offensively all night, but the errors by us and the blocks on defense for Florida carried them.

We had a lot of opportunities. I wonder if Plummer was playing hurt from the middle of set 4 on. We didn’t go to her much in set 5, and the announcers would have noticed if we changed the rotation.

Plummer only hit .217 for the match. Florida was keying in on her (as every team does), and we had taken advantage through Lutz and McClure. Unfortunately for Stanford, 5 attacking errors from McClure (3 stuffs, 2 misses) came at a tough time in a 15 point set. Spoiled what otherwise was an outstanding match from McClure.

Bummer.

FL didn't deserve to win that match, I don't think, but we deserved to lose it. Does that make any sense? There were definitely moments, especially in Set #3, that featured flashes of how we played all season. But too inconsistent for a NSF match, WAY too many unforced errors (hitting and receiving and serving, and even a few passing/setting miscues). Perhaps due to lack of experience? Maybe someone smarter than me in the ways of volleyball can discern any coaching errors.

But hats off to FL. They did what they had to do to win. And hats off to our team; great season, ladies.

A heart-breaking loss for a championship-quality team. 

We've seen those announcers a lot.  Their familiarity with Stanford is really strong.  But what I heard was a broadcast that was too complimentary of Stanford in the first two sets, and throughout.  We hear that all the time with the East Coast announcers fawning over the East Coast teams.  This is one of the few times I've heard it in Stanford's favor.  (Don't get me wrong, I like these announcers, but it was almost embarrassing that they were touting Stanford in the midst of the struggles.)

Congrats to Merete for her career at Stanford.  I'm glad she had a good night for her last game.  Congrats to the team for doing well, even if they and we may have hoped for more.  As noted, we've got a good group that have another two chances.  Maybe this loss will inspire the team to be even better next year.
