Of course if it got stuffed you would’ve said it was a lousy call.

Yeah, most coaches would call a run from the end zone to give yourself some space. But how a senior Multi year starter could totally whif on a block is beyond me. I mean, we have trouble with our offensive line, but seriously, putting a body in front of the guy trying to tackle your ball carrier is football 101.

Why can't it be a QB run, as opposed to a back that is 3-4 yards behind LOS.

Because you don’t usually get more than a yard on a sneak, so it leaves you in almost the same position as you were before.

I guess I got my QB sneak now... :)

What was third down call? Have our slow QB try and run for it instead of throwing to get 15 yards to get in FG range? Not a fan of that call.

That wasn’t a sneak, it was a read option, and it came from the shotgun, where you are starting four yards behind the line of scrimmage to begin with. Not really what I would have pushed for on third and 25, where ten yards puts you in field goal range.

The inability to wrap guys up and bring them down is maddening.

Look. They have 41 flipping points. We can bitch and moan over this play call or that play called but the fact of the matter is they’ve already scored plenty of points to win this football game. Unfortunately they can’t defend anymore. And they can’t run anymore. So you’re relying upon a high-end passing game and hoping you don’t leave time on the clock when you score late to go up 55-52

Intellectual brutality is a thing of the past. We now may just be intellectual...

Would also help if we could get some pressure on the QB. We are blitzing from way too far back, and as a consequence we are giving them enough time to get the throw off.

Where are Lance Anderson’s great mid game adjustments?

That is why giving up the two (and then ST TD) after coming up with back to back stops and turnovers was so consequential. You could trade scores the rest of the game, and the game would still be in reach.

He forgot how. And the d backs as a group aren’t very good. So obviously Akina has lost it as well.

It would help if we a dozen guys on defense weren’t injured.

Yes, giving up 9 points in 10 seconds never helps

This is not a good UCLA team, and we are losing to them in the 4th quarter. This sux.
We need to win this game.

I figure if we go down and score, and then they go down and score, there might be just enough time for us to go down and score again without leaving enough time on the clock for them to come back.
You're right of course. This is not a good UCLA team and we are losing to them. Such is the state of the program now. Blame injuries, or whatever, but we just aren't that good a team right now.
