This kid looks like he has serious game. Could see him eventually becoming a solid Pac-12 starter.

Maybe.  Agree that tape looks good; but unsure if he gets any of those shots off against D1 guards.

I agree with you -- it will be a lot tougher against D1 guards.  some tiny teams out there in this video.  in HS game highlights, Gealer makes a lot of shots off of someone else's feeds.  on another bright spot, Gealer doesn't trap himself against the sideline like a past Stanford PG.

RE: MBB Recruiting - Phogge - 10-11-2021

Reports from Memphis that Zaire is being tutored on the fundamentals which the Grizz have found are almost totally lacking. However they think he has an enormous upside. He will learn a lot from Ja who is electric.

RE: MBB Recruiting - BostonCard - 10-11-2021

Agree that the base case is that Gaeler is a nice practice player who gets in on some garbage time once he plays against legit college guards.  Two things I liked about him that ought to translate well is that he is quick to get his shot off, which will serve him well against defenders who are quicker to recover, and two, he has pretty good court vision, so hopefully he will be able to find the open player, even as he is defended better.

Since they don't show you all the missed shots in these highlight tapes, it is tough to know how good of a shooter he is, but I guess it is worth noting that he was looking for his own shot a lot.

He doesn't look particularly quick, but neither was Matt Lottich.

RE: MBB Recruiting - slide - 10-11-2021

in Gealer's hs career, he has shot 89.4% from the FT line.  that's a good start.  he doesn't look like he shoots much -- makes 2 2's and 2 3's per game.  obviously he picked up it late in the post season.  looks like a gamer.

at 6'1" and 150, he has some room to get bigger.  send him in daily to share donuts with the AADs, lift....

if worst comes to worst, he'll elevate practices and push those in front of him.  lots of upside from there.

I'm not convinced that either Mike O'Connell or Isa Silva is significantly quicker or more skilled than Gaeler is. O'Connell does have an inch and more weight than Gaeler and I gather Silva has two more inches. But really, what else is Gaeler lacking, at least based on these clips?

Gealer gets a strong endorsement from his coach Harvey Kitani, who is a legend here in LA.

OMG, it's Henry Steele crossed with Daniel LaRusso.

In case you didn't know, Henry Steele was the character played by Robby Benson in the 1977 movie One on One.

He watched the great Ja Morant. My son works for the Grizz and and Morant does something each night that nobody else can do.

Well, he had a killer hesitation take-to-the-key-and-then-spin-to-the-bucket move and layup in Q4 last night to help the Grizz continue their dominance of the Ws.  Remarkable play.

Your definition of dominance must be different than mine. The Grizzlies have beaten the Warriors two straight games in OT. That's two games that were basically coin flips.

Quote:Continuing the program's run of signing highly-rated recruits, Stanford men's basketball added a pair of four-star players to the program in the class of 2022. Ryan Agarwal (Coppell, Texas) and Jaylen Thompson (Oakland, California) signed their letters of intent on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the start of the early signing period.

Thompson and Agarwal join a program that signed top-20 classes nationally in three of the past four seasons, while this year's class begins with Stanford signing two four-star players for the third consecutive year.
