I don't see the Mavericks bouncing back.
Warriors: “hold my beer”
Mags are up almost 20 as we head into halftime.

Warriors doing their best to make me look foolish and have cut the deficit to 5.

Now a 2 point game heading into the fourth. Nice comeback by the Warriors.

Man, they made me look real foolish. I should have known better than to count them out after being down 19; let alone for them to win by 9.

On one hand, the Warriors merely held serve at home.
On the other hand, this is a pretty good gut punch to the Mavs. This is their 7/2/1863.

You can’t do better than hold serve. mavs now have to hold serve AND take at least one from the Warriors, and they only have two opportunities left.

I like the Warriors to take 1 of 2 in Dallas. This team is experienced enough to absorb the away crowd energy and steal a game, probably game 4.
But dang, the Celtics look good on the other side!

Thank you so much for that link. I watched a bunch of them. Incredibly interesting, and it helped me see what was going on in game 2 last night.

The Warriors had 10 turnovers in the first half of Game 2 and were -14. They had 3 in the second half and were +23.
If they aren't giving the ball away, the W's dominate. Dallas isn't great at forcing turnovers, but the W's are perfectly capable of committing them on their own. If they keep turnovers to under 15, they win every game no matter where it is played, until they face the Celtics. Then it gets much tougher.

The Celtics and Heat Game 3 was insane. Who thought the C's would have 24 turnovers and then Heat would hang on to win when Jaylen Brown hit the three to shave a 26 point lead to 1 with less than 3 minutes to go? Certainly not me. Super impressed they diid. Not many teams could do that.

Doncic is donecic.

Warriors win 109-100, up 3-0. Wiggins, Curry, Thompson, Looney, Green played great; Poole, Porter, Moody was OK. Porter had a left leg injury.
I think the Warriors are 3-0 against the spread vs. the Mavs.
Heat ahead of Celtics 2-1.

Had to laugh when I saw ESPN's "predictor" gave the Mavericks a 67% chance to win Game 3. Clearly this predictor model has some significant deficiencies. It is apparently unaware that:
- The W's had won a road playoff game in 25 straight series
- The W's are not the Suns
- The W's have more better players
The last point is the one that matters most. I just don't understand how so many people couldn't grasp the last two points before the series started. Andrew Wiggins was "that guy" in Game 3, the one who clearly manifested the W's talent advantage.
I thought Doncic's post game remarks were kind of cute. He was saying he's still young and learning, almost capitulating defeat. But imagine a 23-yo who can dominate on offense like he can and already has 8 40-pt playoff games. If he can improve on defense like Steph Curry has, Dallas won't need to add that much more talent to be a serious contender.
It's hard to believe Wiggins is getting praised for his defense when Doncic is going for 40. But the reality is Wiggins was +22 and Doncic -19 when on the floor, and they were on the floor almost always together as they both played 40 minutes in a 48 minute game.

Can the Mavs do anything but run iso for one of their guards? Very impressive individual efforts. What happens when the iso doesn’t work and the player in iso kicks to someone else? Run iso again with less time on the shot clock? Someone here said that the team has a great culture. Depends what you mean by that. The team might win more games with more passes per possession.

They run a ton of high pick and rolls with Doncic.

Hyperbole. But according to this data, it appears they do run iso 2.5x as often as GSW.

Not surprising. One of the things that makes the Warriors so fun to watch is their ball movement (and off ball motion). As opposed to the iso, drive and dish, that is so prevalent in the NBA.

I watched a lot of NBA in the eighties as a kid. Then, the NBA became all about isolation basketball and I couldn't watch anymore. The Warriors gave the middle finger to that style of basketball and, as you rightfully point out, make the game fun to watch. The fact that they have used this approach to win a ton - including championships - makes it all that much MORE fun to watch!

Congratulations to the Miami Heat for setting the NBA playoff record for most time elapsed in a game before making basket. I believe the Heat made its first FG of the game when Victor Oladipo drained a 3pt shot with 3:22 left in the first quarter when his team trailed 18-1.
The Celtics won the game at the FT line, where they had 38 attempts to the Heat's 14. Just an absurd discrepancy and the kind of thing that makes a game unwatchable. Really surprised Marcus Smart's absence had no impact at all. No Heat starter was in double figures and two were shut out.
Hard to believe the Heat will win another game in the series.
Does anyone expect Dallas to avoid the sweep tonight?
